Is averaging 10.4 points per game and has been shut out the last two weeks.
I don't wish ill towards him, just an observation.

It's starting to look more and more like the App State HC was the one calling the plays for them. He just can't call plays. Fritz will have to take that over because their D is actually not terrible.

And that includes a defensive touchdown against Rice.
The guy just isn't a good OC.

And just think of how much pain we could have been in if we brought Fritz in. Sure he has a track record as a head coach, but there's no telling who would have suited up on offense this season and it could have been as bad or worse than Houston's results.

I remember talking to some App State fans that I met when they came to the New Orleans Bowl a few years ago and they basically told me that he was demoted because of his play calling which they called predictable and boring.
When I said this on another MSU web site I was told I didn't know what I was talking about and just wanted to run the Air Raid.

I doubt he would have kept Barbay if we hired him. That would have been shocking. I don't know who he would have hired- he may have tried to make Will Hall an offer he couldn't refuse to be our OC but I don't think he would have hired Barbay. The optics would have been awful.

Houston offense is giving me those 1997 MSU vibes from the good ole days ***
Just give him time down there to weed out that former passing offense. ...Am I right ? ***

I'm still waiting on him to set up a deep shot with his running.........

Bumphis was the only one on that staff worth a damn. It was basically a staff of has beens and Arnett's defensive guys.

Can you imagine Houston fans this year being sold on "Blue Collar" by their sports writers, meddling alumni, and university ? ***

For context, Houston's 10.4 ppg is dead last in the big 12, and the next to last team is averaging 28 ppg!!
That's wild.

Well I bought the blue collar line too, but the yacht club and the good ol boys swindled us and put us where we are. That and God calling Leach home I guess

Barbay was a head scratching hire for sure. I wanted to give Arnett a chance but why he hired Barbay I will never know. Better yet Fritz hired him which is even more puzzling since he has a pretty decent coaching history and is well respected.

Blue collar with a degree in hand strikes me as an odd marketing tactic. Feels more like you’re talking to welders at Ingalls than kids you want to come play ball for you. That’s just my take.

No because they probably actually have a clue and don't value access over winning.

YEP.
I sat next to Andre Ware at a game in Houston one time.
At no point did I hear that Heisman Trophy winner yell out to "RTDF".
He must be part of the AR Cult, and just doesn't want Houston to get back to 1960's football.
Really Clark?

That was John Jenkins run & shoot offense during Andre Ware's last year at Houston.

You need to read up on Tillman Fertitta if you believe that.

Reply on your reply to Todd, but I am fully aware and know Tillman.
Tillman also really liked Holgerson.
He is a big reason they got in the Big12. Comparing Tillman to our meddling crew is a different level.

You're right. He's got the checkbook to REALLY MEDDLE. No different than Jimmy Rane at Auburn. Every school has influential boosters that make dumbass decisions every day. The problem is that our influential boosters really don't have the checkbooks for the influence they have.

I agree, and that was my point. We have alumni that are in no comparison with a power booster like Tillman, but think they are because of big fish small pond at MSU.
I would have no objection if Tillman wanted to suddenly pour millions to our NIL for basketball and football and pay for anything we ask, all in turn for listening to his input in the program. I would do that today over what we currently have going on.
edit: Tillman along with his millions for NIL, can't be any worse than our president and boosters selecting HC and the offensive system to run.

You?re absolutely correct. The only thing worse than that, would be it happening again. I can?t wait for Keenum?s kids to graduate so we can graduate him to retired.
