Charlie Winfield listed three things in his answer the bell email, one of them is support the state excellence fund. I know the fund was created when revenue sharing becomes the law of the land. That's coming, but is this fund completely separate from the bulldog initiative? What about the bulldog club donations? Will they all be under the same banner? Do they want you to give to all three entities?

Is the state excellence fund, a tax deductible donation? Game changer to give indirectly to NIL for tax purposes too, if that is the case.

NIL should be a write off if it is actually what it is for and not pay for play. Should be a Marketing expense

Read between the lines. The SEF is not just for when revenue sharing begins.

Yes, the SEF is completely separate from the bulldog club and the bulldog initiative.

The SEF is under the university umbrella. The bulldog initiative is not.

Does the SEF also go towards player recruitment funds?

So now the poorest fanbase in the SEC is supposed to give to the BDC, BDI, and SEF? When normal people are struggling to afford beef and eggs? We are screwed. CFB is dead.

Is this based on fact or myth? I would agree that we are the cheapest fan base in the SEC.

You tell me who's got less money. Our Cigar Boys have pocket change compared to the Cigar Boys of the other 15 schools. And even if they didn't, they've proven they're incompetent and perhaps the single biggest thing holding us back for decades because they want to feel special and make our athletic department their plaything. You might convince me the average Arkansas fan is roughly equivalent to us, but they've got Walton money and Jerruh Jones money in their Cigar Boy portfolio. We're not competing with that. Similar for TN, too. Average UT fan might be roughly equivalent, but again, they've got a couple of their own Cigar Boys that'd buy all ours without noticing the money is gone. We can't make up that kind of deficit asking for $100 more bucks from our fans.

I can't tell you how much I hate being the guy to say it's over. I've always believed there was a way for us to be competitive, and Mullen had us well on the path. But Cohen & Co screwed it all up, took us back decades, now NIL & the Portal have put the final nail in the coffin. I don't see how we stay competitive when our best players can be bought away from us after one good season. That isn't even Free Agency. At least in the NFL, players have contracts they have to honor and can't move unless they're either traded or their contract is up. But in "college" football, anyone can go at any time for any reason and the universities get no compensation and have no ability to stop it. It's insanity. NIL was supposed to be revenue sharing between the players & schools, players being able to do endorsements, etc. But what we've gotten is just the under the table illegal money coming over the table instead. It's gross and untenable.

When the court case is settled with the NCAA , BI will roll over into the SEF which will be a branch of the Bulldog Club. As someone posted above read the press release carefully and between the lines. Colleges will be able to pay these "student athletes" directly not too long in the furure.
