LSU and Florida getting into a bidding war is good for one person….Jimmy Sexton. He will make sure his clients end up in all of those places. It is funny though if they lose Kiffin because we have the guy everyone said was going to be their coach when Kiffin was going to Auburn.

It would take a HELL OF AN OFFER to get him to stop doing TV. He loves working 2-3 days a week and being free to watch his kids grow up. He also has far too many enemies in Oxford. Hell the Rebel Rags guy is still trying to sue him.

They tried to drag anyone with an online affiliation with MSU into that damn thing. I still to this day do not know what he was actually suing everyone about

This is true. Plus it was what? A year ago they wouldn't even let him call the Egg Bowl because of "fairness"?

LSU would be hell on wheels with Kiffin.
The thing about LSU is in a way they are kind of like MSU in that they want to see the local guys do well and play at LSU. Lane seems to prefer living out of the portal.
I'm not sure if his relationship to Coach O helps or hurts or doesn't matter but it may be a factor as well.
To me, it just seems like Florida would be a better fit but I agree he would do well at LSU.

Lane aint going to Flarda. Lane isnt going anywhere anytime soon. Lebby to Florida is 10 times more likely.

There is no way Lebby works his way into the picture for that level job in the time frame Stricklin will be desperately looking. After 2 whiffs he has to find a proven winner with no baggage. Lebby is neither on of those yet and it will take a lot more of the first to offset the second for a blue blood.
I wonder if Lebby may be smart enough to stay in Starkville long term. College football fans are fickle and most of these high profile moves don?t work out for anyone but Jeff Sexton. Lebby seems like the kind of guy who will believe in himself to build the program he wants where he is, and to stick with the kids he has made promises to.
I mean, look at the way it worked out for Dan. He had a mountain of goodwill at State - he could have coached here as long as he wanted. Instead he is on tv in 3 years retweeting about his dismissal. And with the portal and NIL if you build a program up you have a lot of levers to work. If you know what you want to do as a value shopper for players that fit specific roles in your system you can do really well. Especially if you have that rep as a qb guru that gives you a leg up on qb portal targets when you need it.
And with a 12 team playoff there is more margin for SEC teams to get in, and once you are in the CFP anything can happen.
I think you may also see Kiffin stay for the same reason. He is making 8.75M at TSUN. Only 5 college football coaches make $10 or more. Is it worth the extra $2-3M to take the risk on a rebuild in a pressure coooker situation in the current college football environment?

1 you all said they've gone in taking loans out. Not sure I believe all that but if true then why would be stay if they won't put that money up again
2 dart will be gone
3 money is only going up. Look at the nfl. You don't think college football will do the same.
4 now that the university not only has to pay players but more now with the expansion of the roster, you need a blue blood to be able to pay all them and the coach with a high dollar amount plus his staff.
5 we have struggled getting top players in the state. Now that we have a staff that knows what they are doing, how long will they capitalize on us being down. This was the thing I hated with Mullen. He never took advantage of ole miss being down.
All that to say, ole miss had done a good job trying to brain wash him into staying. Media, fixing him up with a local, etc.
No one knows but I do believe ole miss fans have gone all in this year in case he does leave and take advantage of us being in this rut. I don't think this last but we'll see if he sees it this way.
Also it's like high school recruits to college. Most stars don't think they'll be riding the bench. I assure you Kiffin doesn't think he's going to fail at LSU and with their amenities and resources could only do better. Whether that's the case is to be seen. If Orgeron can win there.... they just have to find their qb etc. And lsu has the money to get those guys when they come up. Ole miss isn't winning that bidding war. Again the fact they have had dart all these years has help Kiffen. Not many would come and be there this long. Ole miss was smart to get dart knowing they'd have extra years on the back end with him

Best case scenario for us is for Lane to take another job after this year and let Lebby loose in the state and in the portal. OM ain't replacing Lane with an equal. Lane is a damn good coach. OM will be in our situation after Mullen left. They will get a decent up and comer or a has been retread. But one thing is certain, he won't be Lane Kiffin. And make no mistake, after this weekend Lane is coaching his ass off for the Florida job.

I doubt Stricklin will be making the next hire there

He was squirming and deflecting like a politician when finebaum interviewed him prior to the game saturday. Stricklin knows his head is probably on the block too.

And I'm not sure Miami is that good either. Better than Florida and FSU right now. But the ACC is so bad compared to the SEC that it's hard to tell.
