Stolen from another board so dont blame me Q if its not 100%:

From last year's draft- every player drafted in the Top 7 rounds signed with MLB. Almost everyone in the top 10 rounds will sign. With the new rules- they almost have to.

Remember this in July regarding our players/signees

Early 6 round last year paid around $283k. Not bad money

Hopefully Mershon will use his leverage to come back to Msu. I know players who have leverage can tell the scouts what they want If they enter the draft as well as telling the Nil what they want.

I may be wrong but I just think that Mershon is coming back. He seems to like it at MSU and he still has leverage. I'm not sure how much ceiling he really has. If he comes back and has a big year and let's get crazy and say he hits .400 with 10 home runs- which is lofty but also not far fetched for a guy who hit .347 with 6 home runs- he may be able to make himself a lot of money.

I sort of agree he may be back. He most definitely has some leverage with another year. It just takes one team to be intrigued with him or a player. He would be huge for Msu to stay around another year.

Yep, usually if a guy gets drafted in the Top 10 rounds its because the player has already said they will sign for a number the club thinks it can offer. Lots of top 10 round talent that do not go in the top 10 rounds because their ask is just out of range so they either drop way down or don't get drafted at all.

We’ll find out on on draft day. Top 10 rounds? Almost likely gone.

After that? Likely to return

What are the new rules? I'd assume not much has changed. If the team doesn't already know the player will sign for $X or close to it, they don't pick him and risk wasting a very valuable pick for nothing. Medical exams are the only reason a signing doesn't happen.
