I need some advice on planning drives around the weather. I drive all over, especially from the Nashville area to Covington county MS....back and forth a lot.
What is the best way to find your "path" forecast?
I have the Drive Weather app, but it's kinda meh...
It gives an overview but not much detail as to what to expect.
I usually have the option to leave in the afternoon one day or the next morning. Just looking for route forecast advice.
Thanks

WTH?!?! Who is Zulu and why is he messing with me??? Lol
This link helped a lot actually. The site I went to was like trying to figure out Egyptian Hieroglyphics.

Subtract 5 hours when on Daylight Savings Time if you are in the central US time zone.

Just get a radar app for your smart phone and see for yourself real time. I have MyRadar (free, but loses ads for just $1). MyRadar also can be used with Apple CarPlay in your vehicle and show the the radar on your car's screen. It's not animated (allegedly for safety reasons) but updates pretty frequently.

A bit more complicated one is RadarScope that costs $10. You have to enter which NexRADs you want to use. As far as I know, it can't be used through Apple CarPlay.

Or the old fashion way. If a front is coming in from Dallas and it's fast mover you got about 6 hours till it hits 55

Thanks guys. I have multiple weather apps that I use for real time forecasts and for planning hunting/fishing trips locally etc.
It's the traveling that gets me and trying to stay off the highways in terrible weather. I've had two automobile accidents in my life spread out over 30 years apart. Both were due to weather. I'd rather drive all night than drive during the day in bad weather.

Sky Vector has a good web based (browser based) radar if you want to look at radar images - near real time.

If you just want to know if it's about to rain, any free radar app will do that. If you're wanting more in depth info then you can't go wrong with RadarScope.

I love RadarScope. I'm just having issues forecasting a 400 mile stretch ahead of time.

As someone mentioned earlier, the HRRR is a good model that updates hourly. It's had some issues last couple of storm systems but it's typically pretty reliable.
