Now on to Starkville next Friday. Going to be another tough one.
Just be glad West Point is in 5A

Maybe so. They did beat Starkville 24-3 though.

Only folks sayin that are the ones that haven't seen them play. Best all around team in the state. As much as the offense gets all the pub for the stars the defense is what makes them so dern tuff. I'm not sayin it wouldn't be a hard fought game but anybody without blinders or a metro area bias knows who the best team in the state is this year.

West Point would dominate anyone in the state. Best team by far. And I’m a madison central grad. As the original person said, the 6a teams should be glad West Point is 5a.
Saying that, would love to see some type of overall tournament like the private schools do in basketball. Unfortunately, this would never happen, though.

I don't think Madison Central would have a problem playing them if West Point agreed to it. May or may not win- but MC usually doesn't shy away from playing tough teams.
MC's "problem" is they don't have any elite Dandy Dozen type talent like they had in 2010 and 1999. They're still a very strong program and one of the best in the state- but that's usually what ends up tripping them up in the North Finals. And that will probably happen again with Starkville. That's true of really anybody in Mississippi. West Point has the best player in the state and he can carry a team. Once Murphy graduates they'll probably take a step back to what they are usually are- a very solid 5A football team that will go deep in the playoffs. Unless they have someone I am unaware of that can carry them again.
