It's hard to be tough and scrappy when you know you're pitching staff is going to likely give up 10+ runs and blow any lead they get.

That has to feel like you're banging your head in the wall if you are a non pitcher.

Then eventually there is no postseason to play for and at that point it almost becomes every man for themselves because then you're playing for a spot next year or a spot somewhere else or for the scouts to go pro.
