LSU is not good. Unfortunately...
Neither are we. Too many drops, D on the field way too long, and special Ed quality special teams. Our OL is bad. But we're 17ing cursed against them, especially in Death Valley. I think we win by double digits in Starkville. So frustrating.
It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

LSU is way more athletic than Mississippi State. That was the difference in this game.
When LSU faces a team with similar athletes, they'll
Likely lose.
We are going to have to figure out how to deal with physical defenses.
-
They can stack up with anyone at the line of scrimmage. That neutralizes any other advantage we had

Agreed. We looked average first half they looked bad. We played tiny dancer at half time and tucked our weiners between our leg at half and they came out to play. We have a good team and I think we were the better team but they wanted it more second half. Very frustrating to drop what should have been a win in Death Valley. Very disappointed in everyone the second half especially special teams and leach/offense.

Unfortunately for us they were the worst SEC team that we will face this year, 4-8 and hopefully the new AD starts a coaching search in December

Their coach also makes adjustments knowing that Leach won't. They had Daniels rolling out to take the blitz away. We didn't and won't roll WR out. They discovered that our line sucks and overloaded one side and they found out we can't tackle.

Our special teams suck but that's not surprising. Offensively though, 16 points is not going to it done in hardly any SEC game.
-
2020 will be the only year we beat LSU this decade.

Auburn much worse. A&M can?t score, Ole Miss is one deminsional, and Arkansas was down 17-0 to Missouri state tonight. Long way to go.
We?re extremely limited due to a non mobile QB though.

We're more limited by the fact that he refuses to push the ball down the field.

We also don't have a WR that would start for many (any?) other SEC teams. I don't consider vandy or maybe MO on this list. that goes for many of our other starters at several positions this year.

I think RaRa and Walley are very good. RaRa's body control is insane.

RaRa, Walley, Ducking, and Tulu couldn't start for anyone else in the SEC?
I know for a fact that Alabama tried to get one of those players to go in the portal.

He had made 20 yard throws pretty consistently. He actually is pretty accurate when he does throw it down the field. I think it's a confidence issue more than a physical issue.

This is his third season to start He shouldnt still be having confidence issues. Put in the Texan.

100% agree, if he trots out the low confidence guy it is certain that leach has no interest in winning and is just drawing a very large paycheck building for his not soon enough retirement in key west.

Watching the game it didn't seem like we had time to push the ball down field nor were the windows open. They did a pretty good job in the secondary.
What opportunities he did have were negated by pressure and some of the routes taking too long to develop.
He missed a couple of throws but there really wasn't a lot open down field all night.

Will is not mobile. I will give some of you guys that. However, he is very good at reading a defense and deadly accurate. His arm is strong enough. However, with that said Will did not have his best night. He was marvelous at times and poor at times (the pick at the end was a bad read and throw).
The bigger problem tonight was.......MSU WRs got very little separation (if any) from LSU DBs. LSU DBs ran step for step with all our WRs, no problem. LSU played tight man and there was nothing we could do about it. Any throws Will made and catches by the WRs were exceptional throw and catches and timed to perfection. Also LSU played those 2 safeties over the top and took away the vertical and deeper options.
I have NOT re-watched the game yet. However it did seem our pass routes were slightly different tonight. We had a thread about the mesh routes last week. However, I don't recall seeing many mesh routes this week. Im just really disappointed we could NOT match them athletically at WR and take advantage of their man coverage with mesh.

Push it down field to who? Who is open? Pushing it downfield requires 2 things before Will even comes into the equation. Time and separation. We didnt get any of both the entire second half and when we did we dropped it. But carry on. Robertson will never ever play over Will. Aint gonna happen.
