I hope we don't have to use sims until
The last couple BUT sometimes the game is saved earlier than the 8th or 9th. Let's just hope we score some runs early and Houston can shut em down for 5-6 and then we don't have to use sims until 7 or 8.

Arkansas and Ole Miss actually showed panic by starting closers. Dance with the one that brung ya....Harding tomorrow, followed by Stinnett or Johnson, then Sims.

I will say this, atleast when Ole Miss gets to this spot every year they are dependable in the imploding.

Arkansas only gave up 3 runs. Kopps was absolutely the right decision today

Not throwing Sims till inconsequential innings tomorrow would be lunacy. You pitch him when the game is on the line, even if that's the 2nd inning

Except for when they needed a fresh Kopps in the 9th, and didn't have one

The 9th wouldn't have mattered if they didn't start him.

All innings count the same. You absolutely get everything you can out of Sims tomorrow. To not do so is mal-practice

Agreed. Arky quit hitting after game 1. They celebrated a little to soon. And I don't want to see sims come in AFTER the horse is out of the barn.

Didn't say you don't get all you can out of him. I just don't think you start him

I'm fine starting someone else tomorrow to see if you can steal a few innings, but the game has to be decided with Sims on the mound. Everyone can live with that. If they beat Sims, we sleep well. If tomorrow's game gets decided with Sims on the bench, that's going to be tough pill to swallow

Yeah arky literally had nothing left but kopps. Heck the brought in wicklander in the 9th. They were a 2 pitcher team at the end and that's not enough.

I'm fine not starting him, but saving him to be some kind of closer tomorrow is stupid. IMO, when the game starts, he needs to be stretching in the bullpen

It "might have been the right call", but it was still desperate. As I said earlier in the thread, that only works when your offense shows up and rakes. But they didn't. Ark should be good enough to not only hold NCST, but also score enough, that when the game is wired late, they can bring in their All American closer to slam the door. Hell, even if they had rotated guys to bridge to Kopps until...say...the 4th or 5th, he would've had enough juice by then to still be himself in the 9th. When they needed him the most, he gave up the go ahead HR. It was absolutely desperation, from the #1 team in the country no less. Them exploiting him the way they have would never pan out, and it met it's end in the Supers.
