It still sucks that we lost, but the people insisting that Arkansas hasn't improved a lot since last year were clearly way wrong.
Arkansas has consistently recruiting around us in the rankings, so they were massively underachieving. It appears to me that Pittman has raised them to kind of what they should be.

Arky has greatly improved.

There is nothing wrong with a B hire. I?m not by any means saying it?s bad. But Leach has been coaching for 15+ years with 1 divisional title.

What constitutes an A here? Mullen never won much of anything that mattered, but he was clearly an A in my mind. 7-9 wins (including bowl) a year by leach is an A hire without really elevating the program

Mullen finished ranked 3 times in 9 years (2010, 2014, 2017, getting screwed by stupid voters in 2015), was in the mix for the West in November 3 times in 9 years (2014, 2015, 2017). More importantly, he convinced us to stop accepting mediocrity. Without Mullen elevating our expectations, most of our fans would have been happy with Moorhead going to 2 bowls and beating Ole Miss twice, rather than demanding he be fired. I agree that he's an A hire.
I think Leach will probably be a little more successful on W/L record and beating "big name" teams, but who knows if he'll take us to Atlanta. He never played in a Big 12 or Pac-12 championship game, despite regularly being in the mix for it.

Arkansas is much improved. It makes sense we lost to them and beat LSU now. At first I thought it was a Leach thing but LSU might be the worst team in the west this year as crazy as that is

Auburn is badly out of shape. We will win that game.

They're much better.
I don't love Franks, but he is experienced and I think that's really really helped them. Franks doesn't give away the game. He makes you beat them

Agree 100 percent. Ark might not win this one but they will win some games this year. They are using the LSU coordinator model and it?s working for them this year. Although Pittman might be a better head coach than Eddie O. Time will tell

Malzahn's job might be on the line again here.
"We will have no problem in handling Kentucky."-Turfdawg67. MSU suffered a 27-17 defeat in 2022 with 225 yards in total offense.

Worth noting... ark has gone unsuccessfully for 2 2-pt attempts. That would be a 3 pt lead. May end up costing him

Arkansas is following the LSU model of a coach that is charismatic and a good recruiter and then hire elite OC/DC. That model can work IF the school continues to find elite OC/DC because as we saw with LSU those coordinators will leave to further their career at some point. Probably best case scenario with that model is a program that is a roller coaster- see LSU last year vs. this year.

Mullen was a great hire for where we were in 2009 no question about that. We'll see what comes of Leach. I'm not really too concerned with SEC titles especially as long as Saban is at Alabama.
