If UM hires him again it won't take long for the real SMU moment to happen. Everybody keeps forgetting it was the SECOND round that nailed SMU for real. Even Ole Miss isn't that stupid.

Yeah they are. They think they are bulletproof. And after this last investigation I can understand why. After they have a bad year this year and next they will get desperate again. Like they did when they initially hired him to replace Nutt.

They have convinced themselves they are doing it to prove a point as well. You can't compete vs Bama, Auburn, Georgia, aTm etc unless you blatantly cheat your ass off. The NCAA has forced it in their minds. In a way I agree with them but even if the playing field was even teams would still find a way to pay players behind closed doors. It's impossible to both level the playing fields for all and eliminate cheating.

These speeches are an attempt to rehab the Reverend. He does his mea culpa tour, maybe getting some sympathy along the way, and ole miss graciously allows Freeze back into the coach's chair.

If there is no political hay to be made or some clawback involved the feds want nothing to do with it .
