Brad Cumbest - Please forget foolsball and play beisbol in Maroon
Maybe the IB AD and Generalissimo of MSU Baseball can talk to this kid about his freakish baseball potential. Even Aaron Judge had scholarship offers to play TE at Notre Dame, Stanford, and UCLA. Also back in the 80's Pat Dye at Auburn let Frank Thomas keep a football scholarship but devote himself to baseball Check out these meaningless but fun stats.
(by the way, I know this won't happen)
Pitching Stats

8-2 (w-l) 1.50 (ERA) 65(IP) 36(H) 26(BB) 107(K) 0.149(OBA)
Brad Cumbest - as ECHS Senior

Hitting Stats
Brad Cumbest
0.456(BA) 8(HR) .855(SLG) 1.375(OPS) 9(k) 90(AB) 12(BB)
Walker Robbins (George County HS- Same League as East Central)
0.477(BA) 3(HR) .704(SLG) 1.305(OPS) 11(K) 88(AB) 24(BB)
Brad Cumbest Size
6-4 (ft-in) 217 (Lbs) by Max Preps
6-6 (ft-in) 240 (lbs) by Sun Sentinel

I wonder, did Cumbest even play elite travel baseball?

Do you know if he's any good at baseball and if he'll skill set will transfer to college?
If so, how do you know this?

No guarantees with prospects, but high-twitch athletes are worthy gambles. Also, it's worthy to esteem his pitching ability, this means the kid not just a lumber jack that can swing hard, he can also do the intellectual, gray matter intensive part of baseball.
Given that Cumbest does not have a PG profile means the kid is probably not extensively molded by travel ball, rather considered himself a football guy that is a baseball project. But that can be worth the effort, that's what the Cardinals did with Pujols when they drafted him. There was very little data on the player and the team that actually wanted to draft him more, never expected anyone to take him before they could.
There is actually a chapter dedicated to the scouting of Pujols in a book, "the extra 2%"

San Diego MLB scout came to watch Cumbest on several occasions during high school games. I heard he was blown away with his hitting skills and was a decent pitcher to boot. Was told the main reason he wasn't drafted is they all knew he had inked a scholly with Miss.State for football. I would think if the MLB scouts were drooling over his power at the plate, that his hitting skills will translate just fine to the SEC.

Has anyone else recently played 2 sports? That just seems really difficult to do. Hope it all works out for him.

He’s just a great athlete. Very raw with a high ceiling.

Keith Holcombe at Alabama played both football and baseball. And dear gosh, if he can make it work with Saban as one of his coaches, I’m sure Cumbest can figure out a way to make it work.

If Cumbest can beat out somebody in the (basebll) #3 class, he needs to play baseball, we are closer to getting a team natty in baseball than we are in football. If he can play both, it free's up scholly room for baseball.

Seems like LSU had a guy that played outfield and safety a while back. One of OSU's big pitchers played football up until this season for them.

George County and EC are not in the same leagues FYI. EC is 4A and GC is in the toughest 6A division in the state with Oak Grove and Petal. I get your point thoigh, they are from the same area

My bad, I reasearched and found they play each other frequently. I grew up on the Tennessee-Alabama corner of the State. So EC is Pontotoc to GC as Tupelo in this part of the State
