Unbelievable "Rebels" on the scoreboard, is what the State fans were booing at. I don't understand how a "novice" sports fan does not know that, much less someone that works in sports. When is the last time a friend of yours called Florida State the Gators or Michigan St. the Wolverines?

I can't remember when I didn't know the difference between all the "U" and "State" schools. I can clearly remember being able to distinguish between them at age 8. But I'v always been a big college sports fan.

Honestly the explanation may be simpler than you think. Tin foil hats on please. It's the same reason for a lot of the BS perception stuff in sports media. Sports media is full of Beardsharks. It would not surprise me at all if a lot these "mistakes" could be traced back to UMiss in some way or another. Is it a joke? Is it trying to keep up the perception by masquerading as MSU in order to have people mistakenly give them credit for something we do? Both?

I think a lot of people don't truly realize what a hard on they have for attention.

I'm a student at a fancy school up north and I have to constantly explain to these supposed geniuses the historical difference between the flagship and land grant schools. And my current school was founded as a land grant school.
