Hope he learned something he can apply in life. I think D-1 schools should offer a 4 year vocational certificate in a particular skill that players can really use later in life and make good money. Like being an electrician, carpenter, plumber, welder, brick mason, tile installer, dry wall installation, chef, truck driver, etc, etc. I know a bunch of guys and gals who went this route and make way more money than most college grads. Not everybody coming out of high school is equipped to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, architect, accountant, etc.

Jerrel Power is the poster child for what college sports can do. Came from a messed up school district that completely failed him, and used his opportunity to get a degree, even working at it past his time on college campus.

The word "from" should be between break and keeping, but it's an Ole Miss diploma so it's to be expected
Not only did Mississippi State embarrass LSU on this night. Davis Wade Stadium wrecked Tiger Stadium in music choice, atmosphere and, most of all, volume.

When I'm 80 and deaf, it's not going to be all those Springsteen concerts or Queen at Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans on Halloween Night in 1978, it will be this game...............Glen Guilbeau--Sherveport Times

    Question

Does anyone know what diploma he is to receive (I thought also, that one receives their degree from a university)....

Just curious to know if it is the old General Studies/General Science degree that is not worth the paper it is written on...

    That's great for him.

I feel badly for the HS athletes who signed with other schools but didn't qualify for college because they didn't have the 'help' that Powe had.

True, but we have Junior College players educationally playing at D-1 level programs when they probably shouldn't be. They have to major in basket weaving or PE in order to make it through 4 years. And what do they have to show for it after they finish? Not much. Had they studied and practiced being an electrician, they would have something. They somehow qualify for Ole Miss or MSU in order to play football at a high level when they truly should be at a JC.

I'm going to give him his props on this, ole miss got him in to play football. they were finished with him after he had used up his eligibility. It seems like he did this on his own later. He can be proud of this no matter what the degree is in. I have a Petroleum engineering degree, but with most degrees to a potential employer that degree shows that you had the fortitude to stick something out until you accomplished that goal.

He can qualify to become an officer in the military, if he passes other mandatory test, through OCS. Army don't care what degree you have as long as it's a BS from an accredited college. Nurses and doctors can be different.
