Don't hate Dan. Actually like the guy. But I do understand his limitations. Keep hoping for him to turn the corner. Will be surprised (and very happy) if he does turn the corner.

Yeah I think one of the biggest things I want to see, that stats can't show, is how we compete against A&M. As a fan, it was hard to sit there and accept that our team wasn't even competing in prime time. I'm completely fine accepting that other teams are more talented and just better than we are, but I want to see us make them earn it. For the most part, in our other 2 SEC road games, it wasn't even entertaining to watch after half time. If we don't do anything else against A&M, I want to see us compete. If we are going to lose, make it a 4 quarter game. Make them be better than you until the clock hits zero. I know we can compete with A&M on the road, and I know we have the talent to beat them. But to be fair, we had the talent to compete against UGA and Aub.

    Great points

I think the team grew up a little in those UGA & Auburn games & has the right attitude now getting ready for A&M.

I think the LSU game may have got this team out of sorts a little as far as their mentality & made them feel invincible, which in turn, caused a lack of attention to detail & over aggressiveness.

I like how the last two weeks have prepared this team. We have executed extremely well the last two week in extremely non-emotional games.

I'd be shocked & extremely disappointed in the staff & players if we don't play well Saturday night.

I just think with the way the UGA & Auburn games went & the way we have rebounded the past two weeks, this team has a much greater understanding of who it is, what it's identity is, what it's limitations are, & what it has to do to win football games. That's huge in maturity

Remember I posted the team had a players only meeting after Auburn? This is why we are seeing players working their asses off now. They get it. They understand that beating LSU didn't make them LSU. It's about the grind and doing your job.

Since 2009 when Houston was good and whipped us I have always been worried about Sumerlin offense. He needs a really good QB for it to work. I don't know if he has one right now.

    Agree.

As good as the LSU game was, it led to a team that simply didn't know where it was vulnerable & what it's limitations were. Problem is, that UGA & Auburn's coaching staff did know what MSU's limitations were.

Those games exposed us & I believe has led to us zeroing in on how WE have to win football games. This team is limited, but, if it plays to it's strengths, can play with most anyone.

This year isn't the standard Sumlin offense. They have to run with Mond to win, because he doesn't have a strong arm at all. The kid is a good runner but limited in the passing game. The games I've watched it looks as if they limit his reads in the passing game. Its like if 1-2 aint open take off. They run a lot of read option. Stop the run(which we are very good at) and force Mond to beat us through the air and contain Kirk(and please don't kick to him) and we should be fine.

Much of what you say here is correct, but I think Mond does have a very strong arm. It's more that he has worse accuracy that Fitz. Kid can chuck it, but may not hit the broad side of a barn

I don't know i've seen him bounce a lot of out routes. Which could stem from foot work issues but he has to use the middle of the field which generally indicates a qb with a weaker arm.

But we beat their ass in 2010. Special teams and Chris White dominated that game. Houston didn't have their starting QB - Case Keenum??? - and we made them pay. And we coulda beat them in 2009 if Mullen got the refs to review that play they said Lee was over the LOS when he made a td pass.

Sumlin has been mediocre at A&M. Without JFF falling into his lap his A&M teams would have been on the pedestrian side for sure.

there should have been a safety called on holding in the end zone. If that happens then they kick to us and don't score a TD--plus we might have took the kick off and marched down the field. 21-16 worst case -14-23 best case. all because of the reffs screwing up. Don't ever fool yourself into believing Reffs don't have huge impact on who wins or loses.

We showed last year that they have a hard time against our rushing attack. Our two headed monster of Fitz and Williams put up over 320 on them. We have a 4 headed monster this year adding Hill and Gibson. We hang 350 on them in a route.

Mond has a pretty good arm. I think the issues are timing & uncertainty. If your timing is off by a millisecond in the SEC on out-routes & your unsure, it's potentially a pick 6. The middle of the field is just easier for a young, inexperienced QB to navigate.

I'm really surprised an Aggie fan hasn't popped in on this thread yet. We used to have two or three that would chime in the week of the A&M game.

    Interesting.
