I was there when we beat the Bear. Nothing ever came close to that game when I was at State. It was a great week. State beat Bama on Saturday and Ronald Reagan beat Jimmy Carter on Tuesday. Don't get no better than that.

Me too! Maroon, White, Bulldog Blitz! I missed a bunch of games due to being on the MSU rugby team, but I was at that one. Unfortunately, I was also at the 42-14 loss to USM at homecoming. Also had to witness, in person, that absurd 7-6 loss to USM teh following year.

Those teams in '80 & '81 were really great teams that simply slipped up and lost a couple of game they shouldn't (or got screwed out of by officiating). IMO, either could have beaten anyone in the country, and were very underrated. Probably why I've always been a little spoiled in my expectations for our football program. When I was a student, we were a damn good football team, so that's what I mostly identify with.

I share the same sentiments. Seeing those squads play, lets you realize what we are capable of and should not settle for less IMO.

You are correct coach. Sitting through that homecoming debacle against USM a couple weeks before, you never imagined State would finish the season beating Miami, Auburn, Alabama, Lsu, and Ole Miss. Maybe as good a run as State has had.

I thought it was Artie Cosby, but that was a couple years later with the Immaculate Deflection.. I haven't seen the dude in years. I used to get brass fishing weights from him.

What are the chances we could do it to Bama again? This isn't the most taleńted Bama team of the Saban run. They do have flaws. Question is can we exploit them?
