Everyone got mesmorized with what Cole did against UF in the SEC tournament. That was a fluke. I'm not ragging on him.. but He's not a great pitcher and has been put in this position by necessity and then put in a position to start when he shouldn't have it looks like.

He also had great break to his curve ball and was touching 92-93 with his fastball against Florida. Tonight he topped out at 86 which is going to get you hit everytime.

Agree. And honestly most of our pitchers have had games like that and then sucked the next game or two. And then come back and have a good game. Look at Billingsley. His ERA was 5 something coming into today. He pitched like a SEC weekend guy today. You just never know what these guys are going to give you outside of maybe Self.

And people forget he volunteered to pitch because of the massive amount of injuries we've had and he gave us a few good performances.

His fastball was 86 which as you know is a Ross Mitchell fastball. That velocity is BP level.

I think I would go to Barlow next. We use him as a matchup guy, but he has better stuff than Barton. If he can locate, he can get these guys out.

Very proud of these dogs. They just grind. Cole Gordon is a guy who is all heart and just loves playing baseball. He gave us everything he had, it just wasn't enough. If we have 1 more average pitcher, we may have walked thru this regional.
