I'm partial to the Marines as well. The conditions they endured combined combined with a crazed , never surrender enemy made it as brutal as it gets.

I wish more people knew about the battle for the Atlantic though. Most don't even know German U-boats sunk several of our merchant ships right off our shores . Merchant ships were going down daily and countless u.s. merchant sailors froze to death in the icy Atlantic.

Not enough people know how important England's role was in their enigma code and radar research. Had we not gained control of the Atlantic and figured out how to defeat the U-boats, I'm not sure how we would have managed.

Let's also not forget the flight crews of the European theatre.
