Well yeah but only in a spot like we did Holder that time...conference title game, super game 3, regional final...somewhere that there is no chance to play the next day and you pitch it backwards...see how long he can go. But not on a random weekend, not gonna happen nor should it.
We extended holder (2013) and lindgren (2014) 4 or more several times during regular season.

That's not at all what I'm advocating. If he doesn't throw tonight I want him to pitch 5 tomorrow though. And I'm fine with him pitching 4-6 in any one game then rest a week. Throwing programs in college aren't like MLB, meaning he's not conditioned to just throw 20 pitches every day.
That said, I can respect your viewpoint.
