This team may not be as talented as last years, but man they have some heart and grit. I think we're set to have another good year. Guys like Mangum, Stovall, Gridley, and Brown are not fun to play against. They're those guys you love if you're on your team, but you hate if you're on the other team. When you have a bunch of gritty players like that you're always going to be tough. However, We will have some downs though. I know a lot of you will melt when we do. But that is what happens when 9 out of the 13 pitchers who pitched this weekend had never thrown in division 1 baseball.

Came back and won from 5-0 and 4-0 deficits today. I love teams with heart. They won me over today manning up against TT esp.

Long season but I think at least a regional is a pretty safe bet. Maybe we get hot at the right time and get rolling. I'll take 3-1 TTU is a good team and we showed some real toughness today coming back after being down early in both games. Hail State

We laugh, but my OM buddy literally told me today he was thinking about going ahead and booking 'em. He also said all of the freshmen from their #1 class are studs. I didn't really follow their class, but did all or most of their big time recruits actually make it to campus? I assumed that "#1 recruiting class" was sort of a phony since usually the players opt for the league...

Who knows. Let them have their fun. They'll be wallering in the ashes of the grove by the end of the summer

Make no mistake about it, Ole Miss is going to have a hell of a squad this year. However, anything can happen in postseason play. Booking a room at the Inn at Ole Miss for a regional host is one thing. Booking a hotel in Omaha is a completely different thing.

That ranking is done after guys are enrolled in school. But they did have every player in their recruiting class make it to campus, which is huge. Had we gotten Robbins, Miller, and Goldwater to come to school, it would have completely changed the look of the class.

It's one thing to turn down MLB draft dollars, which all of their signees did, but I'll say it again, don't for a second think that the Network's shenanigans are "football-only" as that would be somewhat naive.

Yep, for the longest all UNM fans really cared about was football. However, under Bianco they have developed a significant following in baseball and now that a good many of their fans actually care about something else other than just football I have no doubt that breaking rules to have the best possible baseball team is in play there as well. Its just who they are.

I honestly don't think cheating is overly rampant in college baseball recruiting. im sure there are some perks and benefits but nowhere near what is seen in football and basketball. That being said, it is interesting that the two freshman from Oxford high that are starting for their team transferred in during their junior and senior season respectively

I think you're a bit off here. We sign top 5 classes in baseball regularly, so does Ole Miss, and it has nothing to do with Booster money. Two of the best college baseball atmospheres in the nation, both teams have had a ton of national success in the past decade. I'm all for exposing the network for what they are, but they are not involved with baseball recruiting. There is no way they are coughing up the millions it would take to cover the signing bonuses some of these guys are legally offered. Ole Miss signs top 10 recruiting classes in baseball, because just like us, they are a top 10 college baseball destination.
Bianco's son is currently committed to LSU. That would not happen in football. I've had two people close to me sign with Ole Miss baseball, I can assure you of no foul play. If Ole Miss has anyone in their athletic department to be genuinely proud of, it's Mike Bianco. He's a great coach that does things the right way. Hard to admit, but it's true.

Bianco's son is committed to LSU, that's all you should need to know concerning cheating and Ole Miss Baseball recruiting.
I respect OM Baseball, and I hope that the network's powers that be don't destroy the OM athletic department so badly that they bring the baseball program down with it too.
