Aside from lack of effort, allowing so much dribble penetration was also a cause for poor rebounding tonight.

Never mind, I know. We played Kentucky. Tennessee plays Kentucky next. They will get their ass kicked in the groin. Auburn played LSU at home which was the only W after playing Kentucky in SEC. Best antedote is playing Missouri at our place next. Tennessee plays KSU after Kentucky. KSU will kick the shit out of them.

If you want to sum up this game, Q's lazy pass very early on that sparked UT's first real run does the job. That was the game in a nutshell. That play was a symbol of the whole game.

Agreed. Q especially played like shit. When he plays like he did tonight, it's awfully hard for us to win.

Nope I lied. Howland beat Barnes in 2013

Yeah, lazy pass led to a dunk. He missed a wide open layup. And get lazy on D which led to an uncontested 3. That's 7 points he was directly accountable for. I've said it before, it's easy to forget that he's just a sophomore b/c we need him to play like a senior every night. He and Peters just couldn't get it going.

It's frustrating, Q can be so good one night and terrible the next, Herard played well in the first half but Peters wasn't in it and nobody else could pick up the slack.....so this effort may well give us a look at how the rest of the season will go....not good

Peters had similar results. At least two to three of his contested missed layup shots that should have been kicked out were turned into easy baskets on the other end. We just sucked major ass tonight because we are a young team that has to learn you have to bring effort every night. Our passes on offense were so poor they all looked like bounce passes. This is one we just didn't give a shit about. I know Coach Howland will get them going in the right direction after this though.

People said the same shit after the Alabama game. We then reeled off three straight wins. This should tell them we aren't good enough to just show up and win games without effort. Howland will have them back.

Look I want to be optimistic but who do you see stepping up and being a catalyst going forward?

We'll be alright. Everyone from the coaches down shares the blame for that magnificent turd laid at midcourt tonight for sure. We are young and still learning. Now if next year we are still having these same problems: can't stop a dribble drive, rebounding, lack of effort- then I will begin to be concerned. Q is the leader of this team so when he comes out lathargic the team will follow suit. He's still young too though and has some growing to do.

It's one game. Going forward I expect our team to play much better then this. We will beat the shit out of Missouri and I think we beat Alabama and we will go from there. We are a young team still learning what it takes to win. We will be fine.

A quick question about our offense:
When I was at the LSU game I was sitting right behind the LSU bench. Every time we would come down the court on offense the LSU coaches would all yell motion motion.
Is that the only set we run is motion? That could explain why our floor spacing is horrible at times and why ball movement gets stagnant. In motion it's basically just pass and cut, but there is no set destination on where to cut to.
What are y'alls thoughts.

Our offense typically has very good spacing, movement, and passing.

I don't know. There are too many times we have 2 guys in the same spot and too many times where there are 2 passes or less on a possession. The previous 3 games had been a lot better but tonight and the Bama game had bad floor spacing and ball movement. Maybe johnny jones is such a terrible coach that he thinks every offensive set is motion.

Just like we got too high on the team after the last 4 games, we're (me especially) getting too low after this game. We played above our heads vs Kentucky and below our ability tonight... the real state team is somewhere in between. Hopefully we can bounce back and win 2 this week

I honestly think our guys were surprised with how much juice tenn came out with. I know I was. After watching them look pathetic against Randy and the boys I thought we would win for sure. Credit to coach Barnes for getting his guys up to play tonight. They came and punched us in the mouth and we could never respond. They played with a huge chip on their shoulder and we were just hangin out. It happens, especially with a young team.
