    Applewhite new Houston Head Coach

Applewhite is the new Houston HC. Of course all the news media had Kiffin as a done deal late last night, why I don't listen to the news media, just a bunch of fish wrappers trying to stir up or get first on a story such as Dan was second choice, lmao again.

Or a raise from Bama? I would think Alabama can pay him more than anyone. Also, he has the most job security there. He could be fired in 3 years at LSU, with Ogeron. Bama ain't firing Saban and he isnt leaving for years.

Apparently Kiffin felt sure the job was his.

How did he get himself a raise by not having an offer anywhere yet?

Kiffin is going to LSU or they would not have signed off on Orgeron. The Houston HC job was an agent ploy to make sure that LSU pays a premium for Kiffin. Kiffin to LSu is already done IMO. LSU brass already negotiating with Kiffin agents. His agent probably wants to make sure he makes more than Aranda.

If so, Joe Alleva is just a bad joke of an AD.

Naw Kiffin wanted the Houston job but the LSU gig is a very good fallback plan.

Pretty sure Kiffin had his ego crushed. Not sure what the buyout clause was but Houston did the right thing putting in a huge buyout clause.

I have some Lsu buddies and they flat out don't want Kiffin.

Houston might have balked at Kiffin since he probably just wanted to use them as a stepping stone for a season or 2. They wanted someone that either was going to stay for a while or have to pay a big buyout.

As long as they keep going 12-0 or close to it they'll always be a stepping stone.

Anyone that thinks U of Houston is great needs to visit. It's Memphis but less appealing.

Nobody is saying the UofH is a great school but the proof is that the UofH job is a great stepping stone job probably the most premiere stepping stone job in America.

I agree with that, but living near Houston, it gets rather old with U of H actually talking that they are on par with other P5 schools in the State, and that they can get and keep a name coach. That 's not to say they don't have some money, they do have some very wealthy alumni and there are plenty of athletes around Houston, etc. But they do not draw well at all in a city of 4.5 million. It is a commuter school, and always will be.

Kiffin didn't get the Houston job and it had nothing to do with a Sexton and LSU. He wanted the job because he won't be offered a better one this off-season.
