If we continue to shot all these 3s, we'll win some games we probably shouldn't and lose some we shouldn't

We shot a lot of three's but we missed open post players while doing it. Got to have some inside presence too. It will get better, but it will take time.

We are talented- Howland has to teach them how to play together. It will take some time

Holman had a nice game. Q was Q. Kegler will be a player, made some nice shots. Peters and Ready will be good at the point. Carter was pressing but He is really good.

If we shoot 30% on 3's, that is equivalent to 45% on 2's

There will be nights that we will hit 10 plus 3's a night just because we have so many guys that can shoot it. If we can create good low post to go along with perimeter game, we will be tough...real tough to deal with.

Q was Q...that is to say, solid,
IJ was solid too,
Holman is MUCH improved,
Kegler doesn't look like a freshman,
Peters struggled offensively and was visibly frustrated, but played tenacious defense,
Herard was way too soft, he let way too many rebounds get taken away from him,
Wright showed flashes of brilliance,
Carter is smooth,
Datcher showed promise...
As suspected, we're gonna see lots of ups and downs with the freshmen, but we're gonna see a solid team by season end and they are going be fun to watch!
FWIW, Delta State is a well coached and fundamentally sound team. If they had any front court presence at all, they would be dangerous.

Thanks Billy Beane of basketball**** who doesn't shoot 30% from 3's besides Chicken Sword and every Rick Ray team (teaching shooting fundamentals doesn't matter tho cause they are college age players and they are ingrained for LIFE already)?

I was at a football game and didn't get to go or watch but from what I heard y'all better open up a can of patience and take a deep drink. They will get better, but it may not be fast enough for most of the posters on this board.

It won't take that long. We will be ok. He will figure out a 8 man rotation and they will be led by Q. Q kinda sat back and let the youngsters play tonight, but when we needed Him He, He did what Q does -- He Produced. Kegler will be a weapon. Carter was trying to hard, once he calms down He will be Money. Holman had the best game of anyone and will be solid. We could have beaten the Okra by 35 if we wanted to.

I'm not gonna take a lot from tonight especially from the guys that struggled. first game in college I'm sure they were pressing and nerves were a factor.

Yes, we took a lot of long, bad shots but Howland said something interesting. That is, last year, he had to spend most of his time teaching the team offense because they knew how to play defense but had no clue on offense. This year's team, at this stage, is the exact opposite. They know how to shoot but don't much about playing team defense. Look for the offense and shot selection to be pretty rough during the first part of the year.

I liked what I saw out of datcher last night.

with a team so young I expected struggles defensively. it's a different animal and defense requires a lot of effort that guys coming out of HS where they dominated aren't used to... that's how ive always felt.
we'll be up and down and we'll struggle due to youth but it will be quality basketball being played on the floor
