I will find my optimism in an hour. Right now having flashbacks to every moment being a State fan has sucked these last 35 years since my Freshman year. 1-0, really?

We let a 3rd baseman who has dtarted 5 games all yr, come in our house and whip us like Kimche did that frat boy. Tom is a new day guys. Maybe this team needed a gut check after the way we have hit the last few wks. We will see tom at 5. See yall then.
He needs to light a fire under this team and chew these guys out. They looked like they didn't give a shit at the plate and their approach at the plate was complete shit. Free swinging batters with a pitcher early struggling for control. The kid should have been out of the game by the second inning. Instead we strand four batters and let him settle in. Was all on our offense and Reid Humphrey's defense in left field. I wouldn't start Humphreys in the outfield the rest of the series.

Their 3b was pitching. Not sure why Robson never tried to drop a bunt down 3b line. Mangum either for that matter

Can someone tell me why our hitters aren't looking fastball? We let so many fastball strikes go, only to swing at pure shit. When it's 1-1, how do u let a fastball down the middle go by? What are we teaching them in that spot? That fastball should be drilled.

Their ace may well no-hit us. We got shutout tonight because our hitters were garbage, not because that kid is awesome. I'm just saying, if we hit like we're capable we'll handle their ace. It's up to us.

This team isn't losing to us twice. They're playing with a chip and have too much pitching. They hardly flinched after the delay, it would have probably derailed us on the road.

Don't think that was the problem. The problem is we WERE looking fastball and trying to pull everything instead of staying back and hitting that change-up to the opposite field. Especially Humphrey's. He pulled off of everything.

Agreed, we are mentally weak. That being said, we certainly have the arms to win the next 2. But we won't do it.

If we were looking fastball, we need glasses.

Except that when we got an inside fastball we were behind and hit them off the handle.
We just sucked on offense tonight in every way possible.

I don't think we'll get shutout. I think we'll win tomorrow and be up 1-0 on Sunday with Houston throwing a no-hitter thru 7. Top of the 8th, the power will go out and we'll bring Tatum in after a 1 hour delay and walk 5 in a row to lose 2-1. Yeah, I'm depressed
Not really though... I think we get this to Sunday

Let's just play better and win tomorrow. No need to worry yet about winning two in a row. Win tomorrow and and the pressure will be on them.

I agree. I'd be shocked if there's a game 3 at this point. I Might get somewhat of some hope if we force a game 3

Our hitting was shit tonight. It was not because of their pitcher. People in this thread we're guessing his pitches so he wasn't mixing them up well. We just didn't adjust and were free swinging. We would free swing on balls out of the zone and get down 0-2. Our approach tonight was shit. Case in point they put in their reliever who all he had to do was throw three pitches for a strike out.
