    Humphreys' Hand

Any idea how bad it is?
Don't want to lose him right now, especially him in the closer role

    I don't have a good feeling about it. I hope I'm wrong...often am.

The problem s there's not much there but bones, and they aren't very big ones. We may have Rooker Robson Mangum i the outfield for the rest of this run. I hope not, for Reid's sake as much as the team's.

If that winds up the case, the obvious question is who becomes DH? My vote is Collins, but I'm not sure we have anyone else who can play 3B. Alexander is hurt. Maybe Holland or Stovall? I'm guessing Cohen would just DH Stovall, though. Intriguing possibility: Thor Gordon.
It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

Probably Elih. He's hit the ball very sharply lately...just can't find a hole. I could see him breaking loose in Super's & Omaha. Hopefully we don't have to get to that point though...we need Reid to be ok

Did he ever return to the outfield after getting hit? I kept dozing off, but I know he was taken out of the game, but stayed in as a baserunner for a while.

Regardless, he was in pain. Even if it's just a deep bruise it might not be great shape by the weekend.

Yep I broke my hand in high school in the exact same situation. It was right before playoffs so I was able to play 2nd but had to be DH'd for. Lets just hope his isn't broken because it hit him pretty damn solid

After the game, he went out and signed autographs outside the locker room. He had no padding or protection on that arm during this time.

I think it hit him in the left hand. If that is the case, he still might be able to close for us, just wouldn't be able to hit. Certainly wouldn't be ideal, but we wouldn't lose his arm if we needed it.

Per his dad, he is good to go.

    Excellent first post...and handle.

I've been around a while -- kicked off Gene's page during the "Buckles WILL be a Bulldog" days... I lurked around 6-Pack under a similar handle from the beginning; I find this board to be much more to my liking.

    Pre-x Ray or post-x Ray?

  17. #17
Not sure. Comment was made at some point after the game as players were exiting locker room. I'm not sure whether we have on-site x-ray capabilities.

Reason I ask is hand would probably be a lot worse today than postgame

Good point. Could be a statement made by an optimistic parent.... Or, hopefully, maybe he was referring to the x-ray not showing a break.

Yep, I think I will wait to hear after we know he has had the x-ray. The fact that we pulled him out of the game and said we were doing an x-ray for me is cause for concern. Maybe its all just precautionary but, if you remember, Robson played some after his hand injury before we realized he indeed had a fracture.
