If we don't, kiss a national seed goodbye. They're 0-fer against the RPI Top 50. And if we don't sweep this team, we aren't sweeping anyone.

Our main problem with becoming a national seed is RPI. If we dip below 14-15 it might not happen for us. On a recent D1 podcast they said something about the lowest last year being 13.

Mangum is on pace to be as good as we've had. And we have had a lot of very good outfielders

At 6'0 tall you have to think Mangum can add more weight to his 185lb frame. His potential to get stronger and start hitting more extra base hits is unfathonable.

    Pirtle (senior)... .363/.437/.438
    Mangum (before 4-5 night)... .416/.472/.536

But everyone pretty much acknowledges that we probably need to go 7-2 at worst in these final 3 SEC series to get a national seed...and if we do that, our RPI should stay about where it is. It's 11 right now. Our SOS will dip, but that should be countered by winning almost all the games we have left.

I missed last season, but that's the comparison anyway. He's hitting 200 PTS higher than Frazier did as a fr. Remarkable.

Maybe he can keep up that pace and hit .552 (.200 more than Frazier's junior year). I wanna put an *, but who the heck knows with this freshman

I think he's just saying that Frazier and Pirtle were both fantastic for us, and Mangum is hitting even better...and he's doing it as a true freshman. It is indeed remarkable.

Fair comparison to mangum is Seth smith in his freshman year. Gonna be hard to duplicate the average he has this season but he's definitely setting himself up for an outstanding career at MSU.

I think the average will go down, but he will develop more power.
