At this point if he goes pro he will not be drafted hate to say it but its true

I agree. He would either wind up in Europe or get lost in the shuffle in the D league

I agree or it'll be mid to late 2nd round. I want him back... Mostly selfish reasons, but it really is what's best for the kid

Right now I'm just concerned for the kid. I mean could people have just been off on the level of player he is? I mean he was WAY hyped in HS but I never actually saw him play. I did watch a couple of all-star games he was in and he somewhat disappointed there. Is Newman just injured to the point that its affecting his game this much? At this point, I'm just not sure what to think about him.

I never saw him play in High School, but I really think he's been hurt much of this year. I never watch the NBA, too much walking, carrying the ball, little effort on D, too many teams, and too many overpaid players. His shot seems to have been off all year and he needs to get stronger. I think he should come back and show he can dominate the college game, then go pro. I want the best for him however.

Yeah, Newman's production has been disappointing but it stems from the hype more than anything.
Hood averaged 10.3 pts, 5 rebs a game as a freshman.
Newman 11 pts 2 assist.
Hood finished up well at Duke and has a NBA career.
Newman isn't the next MJ or Kobe, like we led ourselves to believe but he will be a NBA player.

Whether he stays or goes I think we all agree on that.

The first reasonable Malik Newman post I've read in a while.

So you already know he won't play in the NBA. NICE intelligence.

Did you even read what he posted?

Hood was on a much better team so it's hard to compare hood to Malik. Seriously, does any starter this year start hood's freshman year?

Newman has a huge upside, don't forget he is the reason we beat OM at home and his sophomore season could be incredible with Howland.
People forget how big the transition from HS hoops to SEC is especially when starting off with a bum toe and very little practice time plus the expectations were so big that it overshadows a good freshman year.

Well Malik had a very good 7 to 8 game stretch which is the whole reason he still has a double digit scoring average. However, before that and after have been disappointing. Hood certainly had a more consistent freshman season while playing on a team with much more overall talent, but nobody was ever thinking Hood was coming in at the level of a one and done player like Newman was advertised to be.

That good 7-8 game stretch happened to be the only time all season he's actually been playing at at least 90% health. Funny how players play better when they don't have turf toe, hyperextended knees, locked up backs, etc.

I feel sorry for Newman. His season has been very disappointing to say the least. That documentary thing did him no favors either. His last 8 or so games have been terrible. He's a non factor. I'm not sure why some of y'all dont like seeing him criticized but don't mind criticizing Ready who has a tenth of the talent Newman has.
