Yea. I'm not in the camp where I'll be ok with guys going to Bama over OM....bc either way, both of those teams could stop recruiting right now and finish with top 10 classes. We have to hope for Kobe & Lashley to get top 45. Pathetic.
Starz are not everything. In fact, I don't think there's a ton of difference btwn say a #8 class and a #15 class...but there damn sure is a big difference between a top 3 class and #45 class. There's no debating that shit.
Ole Miss & Bama aren't the only two games on the schedule, but it's hard not to compare to their classes when we have to play them every single year, as well as every other West team that is recruiting better than us (all of them).

Oh, and not to be all negative, but I keep hearing all this shit about "watch out for our 2017 class"....tell me why I should think we'll land all these prospects with "in roads to MSU" next year, when we failed to get any of the prospects with "in roads to MSU" this year? If we miss out of AJ, Simmons, & Knott, y'all can have 2017 recruiting, bc I'm not falling for this shit again. Not the way we close on prospects.

I'm not ok with it, but it's a little easier pill to swallow.
Agreed on the ranking number...with the current numbers in the class, we're really going to have to hope most of these guys work out and contribute.

We talk about "connections" for 2017 when we couldn't hold on to the 5 guys within 20 miles of our campus. That is bad, bad news folks. Really bad news. Something is broken in the recruiting process for us.

Yes. And like I posted last night, his visit did NOT go well at UNM and they came to our coaches and spent a few hours here yesterday.

What I don't really understand is, why hasn't Kobe helped more with AJ? Are they friends?

It literally could not have set up better for us....
We were #1 in the Nation last year.
We lost our top WR after the season. A guy that is going pro early.
We lost BOTH CB's. Both will be NFL picks.
We lost our best DT. A guy that is going pro early.
We have a bad ass WR in Starkville that can step right into DeRunnya's spot.
We have a bad ass CB in MS whose sis is at MSU, & can compete for a CB spot right away.
We have a bad ass DT 20 miles from campus that can play day 1.
Result.....we get none of them?
If that happens, we can try to paint as rosey a picture as possible, but that's ****ing awful and embarrassing, and someone didn't do their job. I don't give a rats ass if a player wanted to leave the State. Has a salesperson ever sold you something you didn't exactly need? You can't just mail someone a brochure & expect that to seal the deal. You gotta work, just like you tell the players they'll have to do.
(I'm using the brochure thing as an example, not saying we actually do that. Since I know somebody will take that literally.)

I know. The AJ recruitment just doesn't add up. AJ and Hankerson are related.

If Mullen pulls off AJ, Simmons, Jones, and Lashley after all the negative reports we're hearing on AJ & Simmons....put a statue up and I'm never questioning his ass again.*

Why aren't we ever consistent year to year with this stuff? It seems like every other year is they year for our "connections" in the state?

Uh we lost Farrar. They wanted two 6'3 or larger receivers.

Well we got 2 of them so I far. Simmons is a hard read but I still like our position on him. AJ is the longest shot, IMO.

I'm sorry, I don't see any MSU fans bashing each other in this thread. Could some of this discussion wait until after Wednesday? Yes. But right now MSU fans are all pretty much in the same boat trying to understand, after all the on-field success and facility upgrades of the past few years, why we are we not able to recruit at a higher level? Especially with the top guys in our home state. Its a more than valid concern right now and has nothing to do with anyone attacking someone. And this has been the worst recruiting cycle for our fans (and for MSU) because it doesn't appears its going to meet reasonable expectations.
