I had been using my great grandpas old one for the past several years but it officially bit the dust Saturday.m. It cooked so good I couldn't spend money on one when I had a perfectly fine one I could use free of charge. I've been looking at the infrared ones but I just can't decide.

I've got a weber spirit that has done me well for over 3 years now. It's been great.

I've got a Weber Spirit natural gas grill. I sure don't miss running out of gas at the wrong time. one of the better things about Weber is you can usually get spare parts. I need to replace my grates right now.

IMO we're on the cusp of a lot of "grilling" becoming "broiling". Same basic idea and design as a gas grill -- with the heat coming from the top. Seems like it would last a whole lot longer. Had a buddy just get one that he's still learning to use but that cooks an absolutely fabulous steak, burger, and fish. He no longer uses his egg for any of the above. The part that's been slow in learning is how to lower the heat enough to cook thicker items like backstraps without overcrusting them and making them tough.

If you are looking for basic gas, you can't go wrong with a Weber though. Like has been said -- stuff is going to tear up -- and it's better to get one where you can at least find replacement parts.

I can still get parts for my 16 year old Kenmore elite, but I've rebuilt it about 4 times and the main "guts" are burned up. I'd have to get new grates, shields, mounts, etc. The cast iron burners are still good, and I still have a couple extras, but by the time I put all of that into it, I can about buy a new one.. The only thing though, the ones they make now are not made of anything and you'd be good to get a couple years out of it. Mine has the cast aluminum body and the thick stainless lid. Hell, the lid itself weighs about what a whole grill now weighs.
