Saban told AJ that he reminded him of Julio Jones which AJ even said at the Under Armour All American game and it blew AJ away to hear Saban tell him that and basically said he's all bama. I hope that this is wrong and we land him but I'm not expecting to get AJ. If we do then great!
AJ and Metcalf are good friends?

Our recruiting guys on here aren't worried, so I'm not gonna worry either. If we lose to bear to nfl and aj out of Starkville, that's quite a gut shot. If Ross declares, we'd have gotten a kick in the nuts to go with it.

I agree, there are times we simply accept kids that we can develop into solid players 2-3 years down the road, as opposed to going after impact guys. Now, sometimes you can come up empty - as the bears did last year - but it looks like it may work this year.
Also, with our success in putting guys in the league, we should be touting our development. Especially Jones and Wilson. We just hoping we land guys that can leave in 3 years - this is the future in football recruiting. Kids don't want to get hit for free for 5 years. They want to get to the league in 3 years. We can make that happen, but we have to recruit accordingly.
Look at this top 75 list from UGA:
https://rivals.yahoo.com/BWI/footbal...gs/rank-3591/0
There are 32 four star players in UGA. Only 13 are committed to UGA or AU. Teams like Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Southern Cal, bears, and Louisville all have commits from this state that are 4 star or higher. There is no reason UK, Louisville, or Duke should beat us out for a player from UGA that is a 4 star. Now, maybe they are overrated, but we should be making this a priority and we don't.
Same with Texas.

Totally agree on this. I think the bears and us made a major mistake in not offering this kid. First off, he is a damn good player, second I think it gives you a major selling point with Simmons.

Do you really think AJ is trying to build suspense...you do know how old he is right? I doubt very seriously that this is on his mind.

1.That's the shit that grinds my gears and I've heard of way too many stories like this by our staff. Sometimes I don't understand the arrogance and why we do such a shitty job of making some feel welcome.
2. Because we run off or don't keep guys around that are aggressive recruiters. Brewster was a major player for Ross.

Umm yes I do. Why do you think he posted on twitter a few weeks ago that he wasn't committed to MSU? He wasn't getting enough attention from other schools. Everyone just assumed he was going to MSU. He does want attention. Its no big deal that he does, but he certainly does want attention. One way to do that is to not schedule an official visit to MSU.
Now, saying you aren't going to take an official to MSU and not taking an official visit to MSU are two different things.
Same way telling a teammate that you are going to Bama - when you know that info will get leaked by bear media is just building up the drama.

Why does this keep coming up concerning Ross's recruitment? It's been stated multiple times that Keonnig and the family connection did the heavy lifting on Ross. Not Brewster. And he left on his own for FSU. Had nothing to do with us running him off.

Yep -- and I remember at the time a bunch of us said as much too. A part of the class of 2013 that we prettymuch whiffed on as well. Chris Jones and Trent Simpson were the only DL we took in that class. So, now we're left with a 2 year gap in recruiting on the DL as it pertains to upperclassmen -- and our perceived depth issues at the spot.
That damn 2013 class that was decent on paper -- sheessshhhh...
#1 just declared and was pretty good if not what we had hoped(Jones)
#2 hasn't lived up to billing on any level(Shump)
#3 has been everything we hoped(Ross)
#4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9, #11, #12, #15, #19, #20 will not/did not finish their career at State...
#10 has been pretty good, if surpassed in the slot(Miles)
#13 has been better than expected when signed(Clayborn)
#14 about what expected when signed(Coman)
#16 just declared and was awesome(DeRunnya)
#17 is what we expected him to be, a career backup QB(Damien)
#18 has been hurt his whole career while being a physical freakshow(Dez)
So, entering their 4th year, we've got 7 contributors expected back from that class -- and that's with a medical scholarship potential in Dez and transfer potential in Damian. So maybe only 5. For reference -- we're expecting at least 12 5th year contributors back from the class of 2012. Insane. And the worst part? I think time is going to tell that we missed alot on the class of 2014 too...

We graduate 6 guys on the DL next year. We need some HS bodies this year on the DL, we simply can't afford a year with misses on the DL, at the HS level which is why I'm a little confused as to why we don't have more DL targeted.

And we will have probably 3 of those DL go juco... So no 100% chance they ever make it to campus..

I've been curious about it since this class started, especially when Pope got pushed back a year.

I think it's that and they're brutally honest with most of the kids. Sometimes that's not what kids exactly want to hear about their future college experience.

That's getting out worked..
We are content to basically just recruit 3 states..
Louisiana
Miss
Alabama..
No reason we shouldn't be picking up 4-6 kids that are SEC calibure from Ga, Fla, and Texas every year..

We half of your minimum from those three states right now. Let's see how the year plays out. Last year we went into TN more. The year before we signed 6 or 7 from your 3 states.
