    12-23-15 severe weather event

Storms have already started developing and some gave gone severe and one tornado warned earlier tonight. This will be a life threatening day. For our area, the worst looks to be over NW MS and west TN where Tthe SPC has given a hatched threat area for significant tornadoes. But keep in mind anywhere in this state can see severe weather today...particularly this afternoon. I'll be in the field chasing today so my updates to the board may become spotty as business picks up, but I saw where Ref said he'll be watching this closely as well. Stay safe today and heed all warnings.

Thanks, keep us posted and be safe. Stay away from flying cows and if you see somebody that even remotely looks like Hellen Hunt, run like hell!

Man be careful. Also thank you for what you do on this board and in the field. We all know you chasers are a lot more than just thrill seekers and we value and appreciate your service. Once again be safe and Godspeed.

Thanks. I appreciate that. But I couldn't do what I do without meteorologists like Ref producing the info we look at. I'm just the idiot crazy enough to go out and try to get next to these things.

NW MS now under a moderate risk for tornadoes, some violent, for today. Everything is coming together for an outbreak. Moderate may not sound too threatening but that's the second highest rating that is used. SPC uses moderate when normal people use holy shit.

Accurate post here. Moderate is not a term to use lightly. If you live in about a 150 mile radius of Memphis, you need to be extremely focused on this event as you could see some very very dangerous weather.

Now that's not to say everyone else shouldn't be focused, but that's the high focus area. Everyone still needs to be on high alert though. This is setting up to be a bad one.

I'm in Dallas right now about to catch a flight to Memphis at 10:25 (arrival at noon) should I expect bad weather when I get in? Or for my flight to be cancelled?

A lot of Dawgs in Huntsville. How will this pan out for us? Are we at risk for the super cellular, violent tornadoes?

10:25 is iffy. Hard to time out this system. Main threat is afternoon, though.

The storms today were our Obi Wan storms. They were our only hope of blocking the moisture and instability of getting north. They're moving out so the gulf pipeline will be open for business.

Heading to Cleveland to wait and see where it starts firing up. Where are you setting up at?

In that general area. Hope to be leaving Vegas around 12:30 and booking it down 82. At Winona probably decide whether to continue west or head north up 55.

Yeah I'm in Jackson now. Got to buy a couple of gifts and then heading up 55. Initially didn't want to go that far north but forecast is looking more ominous. Never chased/spotted that far north. Usually stay between i20 and I59

Am I about to ride straight into this bad stuff?

You'll enjoy the delta. You can actually see more than ten feet.
