Exactly. Our O-line is just awful. Just plain awful in the running game. If we don't figure something out we may lose 3 more games. Hell, maybe 4

Good running backs can sometimes force a hole open themselves, and Lee is the only RB we have that seems to have any ability to do this.
Good RB can see a crease and go. Shump has to have a big hole and it has to stay open longer because he doesn't have great burst.

I didn't say anything about passing.

Shumpert reminds me of one of those Discovery Channel shows where a Zebra is stuck in Quick Sand and trying to climb out. It's almost painful to watch.

He had the 4th down run that he lost a yard.

He played a good bit in 1st half. Then we only got 7 plays in the 3rd, in the 4th we were just holding on.

I learned it the first game Staley played. You can't see it? He's slooowwwwwwwww! He passes much better from what I've seen so far though.

Pulling guard tripped and missed block of DE, one who tackled him for behind. Play was slow to develop though. When Malik got the handoff, the guy was right behind him.

Exactly, if our OL was a good blocking line EVERY RB we have would look OK. Because our OL is as bad as it is we need a RB that can manufacture some yards on his own. Sorry, but Shump can't do that.

Without Fred Ross this would be a damn close game.

Our offense showed no ability to move the chains, it was 2013 level bad. At some point the OL is just a flat out problem. Bama's front seven is going to eat us alive.

I agree. Dan is going to have to be extremely creative offensively with the playcalling if we are going to find two+ more wins on the schedule, imo.

Just listened to Jim Ellis do a 5 minute interview with Mullen & he didn't ask one question about the running game?

    I mean, what's the point?

Why do interviews if you aren't going to ask the most obvious questions?

Why does our media refuse to ask the difficult question?

Same reason Ole Miss's doesn't ask about the investigation

I just got back. I haven't read anything and probably won't for a while. Overall we did what we were supposed to do, blow out a bad team. We got a lot of young guys some playing time, esp on defense. That was good. The run game was awful. I'll stick with what I said after LSU. Shumpert ain't the guy, but the main problem is up front. The line does a barely adequate job of pass blocking and just really struggles with run blocking. It is what it is and while we obviously can't stop trying to improve it, for now we dang well better be trying to figure out how to work around it. If that is an air raid offense then so be it.

I agree, the Oline just plays soft. They can't push anyone off the ball. Shump would look at least serviceable with even a mediocre Oline. If Dak doesn't scramble, we won't break 100 yards rushing in any game left. I guess that is why we are throwing so many WR screens. Our WR are better at run blocking.
