Weekend C&D: I'm on the beach edition

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm bringing you this one from the Florida emerald coast. I'm not cooking anything this week but I have had some quality meals.

Wednesday night I had a Grouper Rueben (no pic). It was delicious

Thursday night I had chargrilled oysters, she crab soup, and Grouper Imperial at Captain Andersons. I've been to Capt A's numerous times and always have a great meal. One of the better restaurants out there imo.

Last night we went to Angelos Steakhouse. They do their steaks in an open hickory out so they had a great hickory flavor. Had a filet and shrimp.

With school starting, and The W Girl being out of town this weekend, I'm headed to my parents for a nice London Broil and garlic mashed potatoes tonight. Good thing I don't need to focus on food - because I went out and bought a great low miles '94 Jeep Wrangler this morning. Best thing about my daughter turning 16 is I get a new toy so I can hand off the family car to her!

We are moving to a newly constructed house across town in two weeks, so I have been making an attempt to work the freezers down. Since this is also my birthday weekend, I am not holding back.

First up on Friday night, the defining meal of summer for me for as long as I can remember - bluegill fillets and tater tots. Enjoyed some Sierra Nevada Octoberfest with these.

Next up on Saturday morning, home processed venison breakfast sausage with eggs. No early booze as the day was filled with projects.

This evening, elk round steak with the last of the backyard tomatoes and home canned field peas. Had a Central Coast meritage with this that we have become quite fond of?at only $12 it is a great value.

Will be working on Redbreast 21, Four Roses SB OESO and OBSK the rest of the evening.

Wow Sapper, that's a solid day. How's the Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest? I bought some Shiner oktoberfest yesterday and it was nothing to write home about. I've always been a Sierra Nevada fan, but I've never even seen their Oktoberfest.

Spec - It is the least hoppy beer they have, and I liked it alot. It was the first time I have ever seen it, so i picked up a 12 pack at Publix last week. It has definately grown on me in that time, and is one of those beers that I like more and more as the 12 pack dwindles. Luckily, I am apparently the only one drinking it based on my local store stockpile.

Bruns - thanks...I just finished a glass of the 10 Y/O; really, really liking all things Bulliet these days.

Tonight was Hunt's Oyster Bar. Got a dozen 3-cheese chargrilled oysters for the app. I got a grilled snapper sandwich. Another really solid meal. My wife's food was great here too (grilled seafood platter). Sometimes I'm just in the mood for good, simple food and Hunt's hit the spot.

Yesterday wasn't bad at all. Lunch was Crab Trap. Had bronzed snapper with a crab cream sauce

Dinner was The Back Porch. Chargrilled oysters and Amberjack
