    5000 yards passing / 1000 yards rushing

    Has anyone ever done this?

Could Dak possibly do this? I know that is asking a lot, and I don't think he will run as much this year, so don't see it. It's in the realm of possibility with him though.

    Short answer- No

This is not within Dak's ability or anyone else for that matter. To accomplish this you would have the thriw for over 400 yds a game and run for over 80. Not happening. He has only thrown for over 400 in a game once in his career. 4000/1000 would be an amazing accomplishment

i think it will be difficult because he'll sit when we are up by 40 against teams like USM. If not, it would be within reach.

I'm thinking he goes for 3,800-4K while running for about 800

Doesn't seem like it. Since 1956, it appears 5000 yards passing has only been accomplished 13 times. With Case Keenum (3) and Graham Harrell (2) having five of those. LINK

The closest seems to have been Colt Brennan from Hawaii with 5549 yards passing and 366 yards rushing.

Dak doesn't need that many yards though. We don't have that type of offense. I think 4000, 1000 and 10 wins will get him the Heisman.

I'm thinking similar numbers. If he does this, he'll be in NYC, no doubt.

It should, but it's not guaranteed. As we've seen with the media, it depends on when those wins happen. With the numbers and wins he put up last year he should have received at least an invitation to NYC, much less been higher than #8 in the voting.

    True. Finishing strong is important.

If Dak throws for 4k and rushes for 1k, not only did we just post another double digit win season, but he's in New York and most likely coming back with a trophy.

The record for single-season total offense by a player is 5,976, which was in a Mike Leach Air Raid offense.

I don't think Dak can approach that with so many good RBs and the fact that we'll give backup QBs time in blowouts.

I think 5,000 total offense yards is possible though. Dak's 4,435 last year are 47th all-time. (LINK)

Not in the SEC. They guys that have put up 5K yards a year play in pansie conferences. We don't need to worry about him putting up those kinds of numbers. As long as he limits the crucial mistakes in the road games, stays healthy and continues to be money on short yardage conversions, we will be just fine.
I'm more worried about Mullen finding out who his workhorse RB is going to be and we don't have to learn any hard lessons.

Exactly. Too many athletes on defense in this league. 5000/1000 ain't happening by anybody.

    More interesting stats:

Only two SEC QBs have passed for more than 4000 yards in a season - Tim Couch (4275) and Johnny Manziel (4114). LINK

Only one SEC QB had over 5000 total yards - Johnny Manziel (5116). Second most was ... Johnny Manziel (4873), The third place guy? Dak Prescott (4435). Fourth and fifth - Cam Newton (4327) and Tim Tebow (4181). The interesting thing about those guys surrounding Dak in the record book - they all have Heisman trophies. LINK
