They put all their eggs in Kelly's basket long before he publicly committed.

So they get to piss off NFL royalty or some life time boosters with their name on campus buildings.

    Sounds like fun.

Freeze better be careful with this. One thing is for sure, players will know who the best qb is, and if that guy doesn't play, you'll def have locker room problems. On the flip side, if mgk doesn't play, you'll likely have locker room problems due to his attitude. That's why you don't sign him unless you know he is the best qb, and then you hope he doesn't go all mgk and get arrested, again.

All this laughable Buchanan nonsense is nothing more than politicking.
And that they don't want Buchanan to transfer.

At this rate, if I'm a HS quarterback being recruited by OM, my first question would be "What guarantee do I have that you won't recruit a JUCO quarterback from under me"

their D is going to be one of the best in the country. barring major injury issues they will win at least 8. probably 9 or 10.

This isn't the correct question. There is no guarantee that any school won't recruit a JUCO QB if the guy on campus can't get it done. If both Fitz and Staley stunk, I would hope Mullen would recruit a JUCO guy.

The question that any high school QB should be asking about OM is: Why are they having to go get a JUCO when they have recruited fairly well, from a star standpoint, at teh QB position?

    Hmmmm. I don't agree. 8 is likely, 9 or 10 is unlikely.

Their defense was one of the best in the country last year, but they also had a senior, extremely experienced QB to go along with it.

Is their much room for improvement by their defense?

Is their offense going to be better than last year with a first year starter?

@ Bama, @ Florida, @ Auburn, @ MSU, how many of those 4 do they win & do they go undefeated at home? Their schedule is significantly tougher this year than last

They will beat Florida. They are terrible. They have 7 OL on scholarship and apparently none have started an SEC game.

Its a trainwreck on offense and they are going to run a version of Bama's pro style attack. I just don't see it ending well in his first year.

It's hard to really tell much about the UM offense from their spring game. Their defense IS good and they had ton of offensive linemen out. Also, it was a SPRING game. We will see. That being said; I don't see them as being as good as last year and with the schedule they would struggle to win as many as they did last year if they were.

They won't beat Arkansas or LSU this year IMO. They've got a better shot of beating Florida or us in a rivalry game away.

    I see four losses easy.

I don't understand the belief in LSU. They still have NO QB. They lost talent on the OL, and also some talented players in their front seven.

I don't expect them to be terrible - but I see another 8-9 win season in Baton Rouge, which is terrible for LSU.

LSU could pull 11 students out of the stands and have a good defense. Their defense is stacked. They may be the only team in the West that can put three starring LBs on the field that are better than ours. Garrett has to be a stud for them for that to be true, but I don't see why he wouldn't be. They lost some names, but they didn't lose a lot of players overall. They'll probably be a lot better defensively IMO.

You or I could play QB on their team right now. Dural, Dupree, Quinn, Fournette??? There's not a better four man combo in the SEC IMO. Plus, the QB wisperer that turned Mett into an NFL QB has had 2 years to work with Brandon Harris and longer than that with Jennings. I think they have 3 of their 5 starting OL back too, but I'm not looking it up. I know all of their specialist return though. Kickers, return men, even the long snapper and holder just for good measure.

I think they're a dark horse candidate to win it all. I'm glad we get them early and think we can beat them at home, but I also see them getting on a win streak at some point during the season that they're not going to come off of.

I just don't see the offense getting that much better. I agree the LB's are legit, and the secondary will always be good, but I just see some problems on the OL and DL - and with Miles, their offense will always be worse than their talent should allow.

Also, you are forgetting they are going from Chavis to O/Steele. That is a major defensive downgrade in my opinion.

    It should be interesting.

I agree that the defensive calls could see a drop off, but I actually think O is a great DL coach. I expect him to find some beasts down in the swamp.

I think their OL will be fine. They get the brains back with Pocic (if I'm spelling that right) and will be very good up the middle & at RT.

I also think Harris wins the QB battle and they become INCREDIBLY difficult to match up with if he's in. He will kill it on a bootleg, but you have to gang tackle Fournette and you can't single cover Dupre or Dural. Meanwhile you've got Wes Welker, aka Quinn, chewing up yards down the middle of the field. Not to mention they get about 5 TEs back. They're going to be good, and deep, across the entire offense. You look at their roster and it's hard to find a weakness. They're not trying to decide who starts right now, they're trying to see who doesn't. That's a big difference. It will take them some time to hit a rhythm, but when they do, that's it.

The problem is that Miles is going to put Harris under center, which is like putting Russell in the spread option attack. Its a terrible fit. Miles will try and pound the ball with Fournette in an I formation attack.

If you put LSU offensive players with AU's coaches, I would completely agree with you. They won't, and therefore they will not maximize their talent.

Wrong. The question is "why don't any of your high school QB signees get to be the guy?"

    this deserves a new thread:

"Why do Juco coaches have to develop your QBs?"
