Saying Howland now has an offer
And posturing has begun to set everything up as a Go. Thanks to Shannondawg for the early info this morning. Somebody invite Horatio to the press conference

Better yet, just announce him as the first member of the staff at the presser. #WIN
It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

If Howland is the man, then the last FIVE years are forgiven.

If we hire howland this week, om is gonna go all in on Malik. They know they'll have to have Malik or all their recent momentum is gone

I'm not worried about DePaul. Bama is my concern

LOL, they can do whatever they want. We hire Ben Howland and I'm not going to be very worried about being outbid for Newman....

Howland is our front runner and if the deal is done is who we will announce in the next few days. Underwood is still possibilty and surprisingly a name I heard earlier but questioned it but 247 has also reported it as well is Mike Davis who the Newman's supposedly like as well. That is definitely a take with grain of salt type of rumor but I heard this earlier and has been posted by Paul as well. Looks like something to it. Brooks will at least get a look to be retained.

"Prior to UCLA, Howland also coached at Northern Arizona and Pitt, winning league titles at both stops. He didn’t coach either of the past two seasons, instead working as a color commentator for both Fox Sports and NBC Sports college basketball broadcasts."

I find it interesting, and credible, that the site reporting he is a serious candidate (NBC sports) has also been his employer for the past two seasons, or at least one of his employer's along with fox. I would imagine NBC has people with direct contacts to him, or he may have even tipped off the NBC people himself in order to get it out there.

an offer was made 3 days ago.... He wanted significantly more money... Strick got it lined up yesterday to make an offer very close and supposedly Howland is sitting on it and is very likely to take it.. its within 200k of what he wanted so look for it to happen...

If Howland doesn't work out, is Kermit Davis on the list of possible candidates?
