    Holding = Safety

    Does the hold have to occur in the endzone, or does it also count if the hold is at the 1-yard Lane, but the QB (ball carrier) is in the endzone?

    Corelary:

    What if the hold is in the EZ, but the QB (ball carrier) has stepped up to the 1-yard line? Still a safety?

    Correct. If the ball-carrier is in the endzone at the time of the hold, it is a safety.

    Just looked it up, was going off the top of my head earlier, and I am mistaken. A holding is NOT a safety until the hold itself occurs in the Endzone. Thus making it a spot foul, and a safety.
