Being from GA, I never got to really hear Jack in his prime. When at school in the 90s, I only really heard the post game show, and didn't really start to appreciate Jack until internet radio became my primary source of games. I grew up on a steady dose of Larry Munson (GA) and "Hunker Down one more time", Al Ciraldo (GA Tech) and "toe touches leather.... good", and the Braves holy trinity (Skip, Pete, and Ernie). There is nothing more reassuring than a familiar voice describing the action on the field. The one thing all of these greats had in common is their unabashed love of the game, love of the team, love of the fans, and the ability to let you know the mood of the game with just a tone or a phrase. Jack was the last great voice of southern sports and will truly be missed.

I wasn't physical there in 1980 for 6-3. But I certainly was in mind because of Jack. I will always remember where I was when he shouted "Bulldos recover! Bulldogs recover!" I spent many Saturdays after that hanging on his every word. Basketball nights too. He called a great in the early 80s when we upset Kentucky at home.

He was one of the best! Thank you Jack!

How about at minimum painting his name on the field with a microphone this year? I'm all for renaming Scott Field to Scott-Cristil Field!!

I've always liked the sound of Jack Cristil Court at Humphrey Coliseum.

One cool thing that the Cardinals have done for Jack Buck is they have a statue that also plays some Buck's famous calls.

It would be really cool if we could do something like that and put it at Davis-Wade Stadium.

Me too Bully Dee. I feel like a part of me has died. No telling how many hours I've

sat and listened to Jack over the years, especially when I was a youth and continued to do so up until the last few years when virtually all games began to be televised. I am truly saddened.

You know what would be a cool tribute? If at the next home game, no one set up TVs...only radios. And everyone didn't watch the game, just listened if you couldn't go in the stadium.

I'd like to see a statue of Jack at the entrance to the stadium. There is no one more deserving.

If Jack was calling it, I would. But not with Jim.
