Can Dak become a 3,000 yard passer?
With our rushing attack and Dak's ability and strength to run the ball is there any way he can become a 3,000 yard passer this year? Our schedule probably does not match up very well for this to happen either. Our out of conference schedule is weak and we probably will not pass to much in these games.

If he wants to be in the heisman talk he will need to throw for over 3,000 and run for over 1,000 in my opinion. Of course it will depend on how many games we win too.

No because we won't throw it that much for him to do it. Plus he should be leaving all 4 OOC's early.
If he throws for 3K- he will be a top 3 Heisman vote getter

I agree... I think he will have the rushing stats to put him up there but with our OOC schedule, he probably wont attempt many passes in those games which will hurt his stats.

If Dak wants legitimate Heisman talk, he has to put us in the SEC Championship game. He needs good stats too, but mostly he needs to win big games.

IF we win the big games then I think it will be because Dak takes over and dominates, which should get him great publicity

That's an average of 250 yards per game. I think that's very doable. Dak did that twice last year- and was well on his way to a third 250+ game against Texas A&M when he was injured.
As far as our OOC schedule, that's the time to work on the passing game and get everyone involved- not wear out Dak and Robinson. Now, to be clear I am not saying we should or will start slinging it around during OOC games but we're not going to run our main guys into the ground against UAB.

I agree. The first three games should be focused on getting timing down with the receivers. Take Dak out after we're up by three scores and/or in the 3rd Qtr. He should still have 200-300 yards passing unless their defense never stops a drive or we break huge runs.
Death penalty or bust!!!***

he'll have games of less than 200 passing, which means he'll need games of more than 300 passing. I don't see many of those happening to be honest, but I think it could be close if he gets 250+ in all four OOC games.

Which is exactly what Dak said. Just win games. Rest will take care of itself.

Dak & TR combined for about 2900 last year. Williams added another 279, and Jameon 84.
In 2010 Cam Newton threw for about 2900 on 280 attempts out of 295 total from Auburn, or 95%. Dak attempted 267 of 423 last year, or 62% of total attempted. Cam ran as much as he attempted to pass. Dak was 2 times more likely to pass last year than run.
Based on those stats, I suspect Dak would need to take around 95% of the snaps (or around 400 attempts) to have a shot at 3k passing, and that's if he maintains the same run/pass distribution. Of course, if he's improved his passing as much as we believe, that could alter the numbers a bit. Of course, much of it depends on what scheme changes Dan makes.
And if he does the above, he'll also likely exceed 1200 yards rushing on around 200 carries..

True, he could have games where he has less than 200 passing. He also could do like Derrick Taite and have a game where he passes for 450. It's an average and it's situation dependent.
The other thing is he has Bear Wilson who IMO is the best WR prospect we have had in awhile, and then three senior receivers- Jameon, RoJo, and Malcolm that are all pretty reliable.

I love Bear as much as any State fan, but he's still a sophomore playing his second real season. He's eventually going to go up against an LSU or Bama CB in 1-on-1 and snatch the ball away from them, but I'm not sure it's this season. He's close though... will be fun to watch him develop. If he hits that level this year, we'll be unstoppable on offense.

No. Not even close.
We will win too many games where we are up and running out the clock.
If shit goes pear shaped and we go 7-6 then he might. If things go well and we go 11-2 then no ****ing way.

He could easily find himself in position to have to throw for 250+ against USM, LSU, Auburn, Bama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Vandy, A&M, and OM. I agree a few of the OOC could hold him back, but I suspect he'll play into the 3 rd quarter regardless in those contest. He can put up 200+ that way because they won't want to run him a lot in this games.
