This was my OP:
Hey guys!
I am a graduate student at Mississippi State in the US and a regular poster on one of our sports boards. A ton of us got swept up in World Cup fever, and didn't want it to end after it was over, so 40 of us got together, divided into pairs, and drew EPL teams to be fans of. Myself and another guy drew you guys, so I fully intend to be the biggest possible fan that I can be from thousands of miles away. I already have it set up so that I can watch all of the weekend games this Fall, and if I really get into it, I'll purchase a kit and try my best to create a mini Hull City fanbase in my corner of the world.
What I ask from you all: Can you fill me in on the need to know knowledge if I want to become a good long distance fan? This includes things like:
1. Best players on the team
2. Who are your bitter rivals?
3. What is your play style?
4. What is your best known chant/song? (I want this for my signature on the forum I originate from)
5. Expected success level for the season? I've heard lower half from most, but this does not bother me as my college Am. Football team is historically awful, though we are peaking right now.
6. Any other cool stuff a fan ought to know.
I could look up a bunch of this information from websites, but that would be boring, so I want to hear this kind of stuff from real fans.
Any knowledge is appreciated!
Cheers.

Xavi is also apparently close to signing with New York FC.

This article claims that the Qatari deal is gone. The most recent thing I have seen is that it looks more like the States now.

Yeah. August 16th can't get here soon enough because the Leicester City Foxes are going to enter the EPL with a BANG by taking out Timmy Tim Howard and the Everton blues.

Interesting. He's done in Europe, at least big time football. That was proved in Brazil. Spain and Barcelona's style of slow small possession guys has been thwarted and there really is no place for him as a major contributor anymore. He would fit well here in a game that needs more passing

I don't know whether I should talk trash back to you or just ignore you with that blasphemy. Laughable, man.

And just think what Xavi, Lampard, and Villa could combine to do. That's a pretty exciting prospect.

It would certainly be a good team, but they would need a few pieces to be a contender IMO. I think they would drop a lot of points in games they shouldn't because it'll be hard to keep those three playing in every single game

They definitely aren't getting any younger. No doubt about that. But Xavi would most likely be the most technically skilled player to ever play in the MLS. The only two players potentially better are Kaka and Henry. I just look forward to a day when the MLS is getting players at the top of their game, rather than past their prime.

Very true. It may be a while before we have major international players being in the MLS before their prime and keeping them here. I say about 10 more years of development of the MLS before that point, in my opinion.

All the MLS fields need to get regulation width with the EPL fields. This is probably my biggest beef with MLS.

I don't know if we will ever get players like Ronaldo or messi in their prime, but I do think you will see second tier players making the move here in their prime sooner than ten years. A lot of guys fell out of favor at large clubs and moved to turkey, Portugal, and other comparable leagues. The MLS is fast approaching the level of those leagues, and combined with the fact that it is in American (safe, players will get paid their money, good place to raise kids) and I think we will start to see a lot more mid level European talent in the near future

Don't think that's as big of an issue as you'd think. A lot of these MLS stadiums are new and so are their training facilities, and similar ones in Europe aren't nearly as nice/new/safe

Oh I never thought that Ronaldo or Messi types would come to the MLS in their prime. The EPL, La Liga, and Bundalista are the top talent leagues. MLS is definitely a fairly good haven for second-tier players during their prime if the MLS can become a more comparable situation to international play.

Beckham is definitely in the discussion with those other three, but I personally would rank him 4th behind the other 3.
