    Devon Bell 2nd team All-SEC???? Wtf?

    This throws the entire preseason voting out the window for me.

    Chris Jones is our only 1st teamer. Dak and Jameon are our other 2nd teamers.

    Devon Bell can't be in the top 10 kickers in the SEC though.

    He's has a leg. With the exception of his fumble in the endzone last year, we haven't really seen anything from him punting wise and that's not his fault. He just had a really good punter ahead of him (Baker) that never gave him a chance to punt. I think he'll do just fine as a punter. Is it premature to name him Second-team All-SEC? Probably. Will I argue tooth and nail that he doesn't deserve it? Nope. Right now I will take whatever recognition this team can get. BMAC will have a chip on his shoulder for not being named 1st-team even though he's a consensus first-round pick by most scouts. Jones will start showing how much better he is than RK.

    He is a superb punter.

    It got lost on the fumbled snap mess and his erratic FG efforts but his punting was really good when he took over from Baker.

    I'm not saying Bell isn't a good punter but for him to be names PS 2nd Team is odd, he avg less than 41 yds a punt and didn't kick enough of them to get listed nationally. 40.5 puts him like 80th in the country.

    That can be misleading. You can get a 30 yard punt and pin someone inside the 20. You can punt a ball 75 yards but it outkicks your coverage and then the other team can return it for a TD.

    I realize this but I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to compare Bell's stats with everyone else and he doesn't even get listed because he only punted 24 times. It's an odd selection for sure. I hope they are right.
