Indiana Miss Basketball Gracyn Gilliard has just announced reopenig her recruitment. She was selected Indiana Miss Basketball over LSU signee Lola Lampley. Also' she had originally committed to Davidson but recently indicated that she's looking to move on to a power 5 school. This is a player that I've noticed has shown interest in Miss. State.
- Averaged nearly 27 points per game this past season
- 40 percent from.3 point range
- Led her high school team to an undefeated record., Indiana class 4A state champs
Also...
6-5 post Adeang Ring has announced entering the transfer portal out of Virginia. Has shown past interest in Miss. State. She's out of Sydney Australia.

Purcell is hosting standout defensive player Aryss Macktoon today from LaSalle. She averaged 15 ppg 7.2 rpg and 3.2 steals (which is great). She was the A-10 defensive player of the year but she scores and rebounds at a high level too.
If Purcell can get her to go along with some of this shooting he recently got and add in Francis and Favour, we will be a big or two away from a pretty dang good team. Macaroon and Francis defense together will cause so many fits, I hope Sam can pull this one off.

- 2nd (#2 NCAA D1) in the nation in steals per game...4.2
- 4.0 assists per game
- 11.1 points per game
- 5.8 rebounds per game

Was just fixing to post about LaSalle 5-11 guard transfer Aryss Macktoon visiting. Possibly the best defensive player in the nation. Read where she's noted as a lock down defender. Had nearly 100 steals (96) this past season. Also, saw where she had 6.5 steals per game in high school..that's rarely heard of. Track and Field...made ncaa nationals in the long jump and high jump.
15.2 points per game
7.3 rebounds per game
3.2 steals per game (11th in the nation)
This team needs perimeter defense super bad.

She will definitely help us defensively, we actually played them last year and she had 3 steals against us. She's gonna play defense for sure. She will also score and rebound it.
Her downfall is she only shoy 19% from 3 so thats not her strength but we dont need it to be with Smallwood and Phifer getting good looks.

Need to carry a minimum of 13 players on this particular roster plus possibly a couple of walkons. Bring them all (available at the time) in and get a better idea about the team and players during summer workouts.

6-3 forward Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu visiting Miss. State today. She's a Maryland transfer, played her high school basketball in London, England. Easily one of the best frontcourt players in the transfer portal.

Miss. State's guards last season had huge issues defensively. Couldn't defend dribble drive, 3 point shots, getting back on fast breaks, player rotations. ect. Appears a.combination defensive coaching and a lack of defense quickness, instinct, and technique out of the guards. Dribble drive defense was literally hard to watch. Thus far not seeing the defense from these new guards (as a whole) that they've brought in as well. Though, Macie Phifer appears more of a wing but she's a former volleyball standout that does possess solid athleticism. Not to be overlooked in all of this is that freshman guard Melissa Guillet..who came over from France during the second semester of this past season did show flashes of potential defensively in her limited action. Appears a priority need to sign the LaSalle transfer.

It appears these portal adds have a basketball IQ and won't require on the job training like some we had last year.

Not denying that the guards last season.had a good bit of defensive issues on the basketball court but all of them are A students in school, very smart, intellegent young ladies. They're really smart basketball players as well. New players smart as well. Coach Purcell would be one of the first to tell you that all of the players that he brings in are smart, really good students as well as so-called high IQ as basketball players.
Though, maybe you could have a sit down with Coach Purcell and his staff regarding your thoughts on the matter. Then possibly he doesn't make the same mistakes again...
