Hannah Hidalgo is a good example to show coach Sam Purcell and his staff the importance of Miss. State's women's basketball needing atleast a minimum of one guard capable of taking over games. Coach Yo recently tweeted on this subject as well She's a coach that has been knowing this but just using social media to help communicate this to other coaches and fans. Also, look how Zam Jones took over the NCAA Tourney game against Tennessee. A guard like Zam Jones and amongst several others becoming available in the portal would instantly put Miss. State back in the mix in the SEC and nationally. If a current roster guard or recruit developed and stepped up to the needed level that's fine as well.

Jdelta. I love your enthusiasm but can you start posting players we are involved with instead of these random players with no MISSISSIPPI Connection

My opinion, Miss State is or has looked at some of these players in this thread. Last season appears Miss. State was signing transfer players with no previous indication provided via social media, ect..suggesting any interest or involvement. They normally keep these transfer pickups pretty quiet. Okott...out of seemingly nowhere, same with Nwaedozi. Faith Wylder popped up as signed out of Stony Brook..no indication beforehand. Also, even though other names were showing up on places like Twitter and Instagram suggesting interest in various players...all of the other players names that they actually ended up signing (King, Richardson, Crisp. Fane) were basically nowhere to be seen associated with Miss.State before hand as well. They could actually be in on any or multiple of these players and others and not a peep be known until the info leaked or released.

Still, will.post what I come up with.

Louisville women's basketball is not the program that they used to be before the transfer portal and nil era. Also, Jeff Waltz isn't getting the high school recruits that he once was. Still, they're holding on pretty good. My opinion..Louisville is a middle of the pack team if they were in the SEC.

Jdelta what we really need is a true big.. Jessika Carter or Big T type. I love that we kept Favour Nwaedozi because she is good and will be good for us but we need her at the 4 spot or a backup Center. Im watching Duke vs. UCLA right now and seeing that Big at UCLA dominate the paint reminds me of what we've had and what we need again. Keeping Madison Francis and Lampley are very important too

Keeping Francis was huge, I was worried about losing her! We did lose Jimenez and Wylder to the portal but they didnt play much. Now Sam has to go get some size. I love that we kept Favour Nwaedozi but she was a little undersized to play Center. She will be vital for us still though. Next up is keeping Lampley and even Guillet... Guillet didnt play a ton because she came mid season but you can see her talent, she is defensive minded too

I honestly wish Vic would just go ahead and win a championship this year and retire. I think that would push Booker into the portal. I think we would have a good shot because I think Vic would probably push her here.

I think Blair will become a Head Coach at some point and would probably retain alot of Vic's players

    Jaylah Lampley...transfer portal
Best to Jaylah as she moves forward. Appears a nice, smart young lady and a very talented young basketball player. I remember in her interview she talked about prayer...stood out to me.

I had a feeling she was going to transfer, she may be heading to LSU to play with her Sister. I have a feeling Gray may leave as well. In this transfer era you almost have to expect losing players as much as it sucks. We did keep Madison and Favour so Im still comfortable starting with those two.

Needs: a couple of true bigs, another scorer or two, shooting, another PG. We have the high school girls coming in who are both ranked pretty high but I trust the portal more than High Schoolers.

Nataliyah Gray is a potential good scorer offensively. She's got some really quick offensive moves, a developing 3 point shot, and rebounds well. Definitely need some more size but Gray could potentially help this team at the 4 spot even the 3 if she stayed. Needs to keep working hard during offseason. Put extra time in on footwork, keep putting up practice shots to help get those field goal and 3 point percentages up..would payoff for her.

6-4 sophomore post Naomi Jones has just been reported as entering the transfer portal out of Alabama. She's a rim protector, one of the top shot blockers in the SEC, this while coming off the bench for Alabama this past season. If you talking getting defensive stops...here you go. Jones and M. Francis on the same team would be scary. Also, another backup post Joy Egbuna in the transfer portal out of Alabama as well. Egbuna is a big physical, quick post out of Texas, very talented freshman. Couldn't go wrong taking 1 or both of these two players.

Also like the 6-4 Louisville transfer post player.

Nataliya Gray enters the portal. I saw this coming with the lack of playing time she received. She and Lampley both could have been key pieces. But we kept our primary player in Madison Francis as well as Nwaedozi so Im ok so far. I hope we can keep Saniyah King also because I think she has a chance to be good for us. Guillet will too, especially since she didnt get time to learn much coming in so late but Purcell is going to have to bring in some talent to surround Francis. I think he will because one thing he always does well is recruit.

If we can go get a couple of true bigs, another PG and some shooters to add to what we already have I think we will be ok, Francis is that special, you build a team around her.

Best to Tally as she moves forward. I've always been high on her as a player, much potential, and from what I've heard she's the type of person that no matter how down the team is/was about a loss or whatever..she'd joke or other funny things and get them to laugh, feel better. Another one of these 4 talented freshmen from this past season.
