    Ace struggling. . . . .

Ace needs to get back on track and get hot. He's slumping in league play against better pitching.

    9 games in and he's batting .211 (7 for 33) with 10 RBI's (5 of those in one game) with 12 k's.

Think how good this team can be with Ace playing up to his potential.

Reminds me of Palmeiro's junior season. Raffy only hit .300 in '85. His numbers dropped significantly from his sophomore to junior year. Not saying this is what we're seeing with Ace but he needs to get going.

The bright side is, we are winning while he is slumping and it’s better to slump now than later. Once he breaks out of it, look for him to go on a tear. I think the sweeping breaking ball from lefties is what is in his head right now.

He needs to quit trying to bang dingers every AB and just get a hit. I watched him in Biloxi dam near every swing was a a golf swing. On his Grand Slam he got lucky when he scooped that ball out of the dirt. He is batting 2nd. where he has one job, move the runner over. Of Course Teel gots to get on also. But he will start getting the hits. I kinda wish he was batting 5th and Woodson was 2nd. But thats just my emotional dumbass opinion.

The 2 hole hitter’s job being to move the runner over is old school baseball. Presently, it is about getting your best hitters to the plate as many times per game as possible. We do blend the current trends with some of the old school thought; thus, Teal leading off and our tendency to bunt with runners on 1st and 2nd quite a bit.

Regardless, we aren’t asking one of the most dangerous hitters in the country to give himself up unless it is a unique situation. If we want to go old school, Reese would be in the 3 hole and our second best HR hitter in the 4 hole. Baseball is so much more hybrid in nature these days that stereotypical roles of the past have been mostly abandoned.

They are throwing him FB's in on his hands and changes away. They have him sped up right now. He needs to relax and drive some pitches the other way to end this funk he is in.

Yep. He’s just waving at that change away. So far out front. He’s got to adjust and just get a hit.

Do we have somebody else that can play 3d base for a game or 2? Put him on the bench for a short while and let him think about it for a while. Sometimes this works wonders.
