The simple fix in this case is for the NCAA to remind all member institutions that the playoff and bowls are still "selected" and the courts are not a part of that process. So you can play your ineligible player but you won't be a part of any post season endeavors.

Agreed. Let him play this season but announce if he does that is taken into account during the selection process. Basically a shadow playoff ban without coming out and saying it

Nobody cares about the high school kid that just lost his spot on a college roster because this old geezer wants to stay and play forever. College sports is dominated by 23-24 year old men now. It used to be 18-22 year olds. It sucks. I'm no longer interested.

This is the only way that makes sense. The medical redshirt muddies the water too much

It's unfair to the players who didn't game the system and only got 4 years too.

Should be 5 to play 5 - no redshirts, no exceptions. Make it even more objective and remove the incentive to quit on your team after 4 games.

So a judge with Alabama ties gives Bama a professional player back that had already signed an NBA contract and was playing in the G league. Now a judge with Ole Miss ties give OM their QB back even though he's out of years of eligibility under the pretense of a non-medical medical redshirt. Everything about college athletics has become a joke and now schools can just have their own judges make whatever rulings they want no matter what the NCAA rules are. What a farce. And will add that MSU not having a law school is becoming a HUGE disadvantage in athletics.

Well bama lost that appeal. OM will likely lose the appeal - just will the appeal be heard in time.

This is good news for the sport in a way. Essentially there is no more limit on eligibility. Play as long as you want as long as you take a class or two. Thank God the NFL will never allow this to continue, so they'll find some kind of way to put a stop to it.

why should they be allowed to play 5 years instead of 4? Why 1 more year than high school?

The NCAA would lose the appeal and it won't be heard in time. They'd have to appeal to the MS Supreme Court where 4 of the 7 went to OM for Law School, and one of the ones who didn't go to OM for Law School went for Undergrad.

The Supreme Court would not only have to agree to hear the case, but also rule on it. I doubt they do either.

Because 5 to play 4 has always been a thing.

Just give them 5 to play 5. There's no such thing as RS anymore and you can only get a year back through a medical RS. JUCO counts as a year and so does FCS, DII, DIII, NAIA.

What would be interesting is if ncaa rules on tampering and UM can't make a post season game this year plus other restrictions. They picked this fight at the wrong time.

NCAA lost one battle UM gave them the war victory by blatantly cheating.
