That's not what we have now. Medical redshirts creat leeway. 5 years to play 4, period. Hurt for 3? Sorry. Unless you take out loopholes, there will be loopholes

And they will be sued to high heavens and lose. Just give everyone 5 and be done with it.

It's just like the tampering thing. We have fans that think OM is going to be given the death penalty or not be able to participate in the portal next year.
I think our fans are just tired of everything going their way from Kiffin staying there about three seasons longer because his daughter wanted to be around her Ole Miss friends, to the laughably easy schedule which was basically Georgia and 11 other teams, to drawing Tulane who MSU often plays for homecoming as their playoff opponent, and now maybe this.

In the meantime for us Leach takes us to 9 wins but passes away and we decide to handle it by hiring Zach Arnett and the boosters friends while at the same time we end up with this absurd schedule where we played how many 9+ win teams?

The least thing that can happen is the D2 QB that they picked up as an after thought who of course turned into a Heisman contender can actually move on to the NFL after his fifth year in college.

And yeah Kiffin leaving will definitely hurt them but the collateral damage probably won't really show up for at least another year or so.

They won't be a regular playoff contender, but they will be in the conversation more times than not. Why you may ask? Because they're all in. They aren't asking for handouts or access in exchange for donations. They aren't asking to call plays or free jerseys or for the head coach to come to their grandson's Upward game on a Saturday morning. They just donate and move on with life. They may not like how things are now, and most don't by the way, but they know this is how you remain relevant and uber competitive in today's college sports environment.

Do I think Pete is a good coach? I think he's a lot better than Arnett, but I don't think he's Kiffin. However, good funding can cover up bad coaching. See Texas Tech.

It's easy to be all in when everything goes right. Our fans would be all in on Arnett/Barbay/Peterson if we had the same success. When things don't go right at Ole Miss they're probably worse than MSU as far as sabotaging the program. Ask Houston Nutt about that.

There's really not much difference between MSU and South Carolina, Arkansas, or Ole Miss. With the right coach and the right schedule all of those programs can succeed at just as high a level as Ole Miss did.

Yea, and you didn't even mention that they have not played a decent Power 4 team since Kiffin got there. In fact, they somehow got by this year with Washington State being their P4 out of that glorious Pac-2 league. Obviously, they've had good teams recently but have also had a lot of things going their way.

And eight home games. They've had so much go right it's hard to keep count.

People have forgotten but 2016-2020 they were basically right where we are now. Although I think we're a lot closer to the 2020 part than the 2016 part.

In the meantime, it seems like Lebby is really starting to get a foothold in recruiting right now.

Really comes down to whether or not the defense improves enough under Arnett to turn the corner. It will probably happen even if Arnett is what he was under Leach which was honestly average if we're looking at the numbers objectively and not every time he finished 5th in a category. Average is good enough to save Lebby I think.
