Are we signing any JUCO plug and play dudes
-
With the portal, JUCO talent isn't what it used to be. I can't think of a single JUCO player from last year's portal class that was plug and play and made an impact. In fact, most ot them were practice needs and have it the portal again.
-
Yeah - those don't exist anymore.
-
D-II and 1-AA is the new juco
Juco now is for guys that are young, immature, and need alot of growth. Or guys that are ****ing stupid

The ongoing anti-trust lawsuit is claiming that JUCO playing time shouldn’t count against NCAA eligibility. I don't know if it will win or not, or if the NCAA couldn't just change their by-laws immediately even if they did win, but...
If you can get two free years of college and still have 4-5 years of NCAS eligibility left, the new thing to do will be go the JUCO route. Would be a MAJOR win for the Mississippi JUCO system.

The depth that people go to, to try and scam the original intent of the system, is mind boggling! Five years to play 4, then 6 years extensions, throw in a redshirt year, throw in a medical redshirt year, then a transfer, then covid and then a graduate transfer (whatever the heck that truly is) and now schools recruiting and playing Professional athletes. You have grown men playing against boys! The term Student athlete is a joke as they don't attend class or take their own tests, see the Miami QB (Beck) who admitted this year he din't even attend class - but yet he is enrolled in college - they are scamming the system. Universities are having to trim staff to keep from going into the red while paying these athletes - see article earlier this year on Michigan trimming staff.
What a frigging mess!
Why not just create a "minor" league, divest it from the university and start all over with amateur college athletics where the athlete has to first qualify for the university first and then play sports if their grades are high enough - C. What a novel concept!

I wish we the non-blue bloods would form our own college sports organization, have our own rules, be true amateurs, no transfer portal, no nil etc. Truly play amateur sports.
Let the blue bloods go have their pay for play, have mercenary players that don’t give a crap about the school they are playing for, the ONLY the thing players care about is how much money they can get. Let them have their million dollar payroll for players. Let them have 26yr old grown men playing against 18-19yr old kids. Let them get continually ripped off from coaches that are demanding 20million a year with 30 assistants/analysts. Has anybody watched a college basketball game lately? Most teams bench have way more assistants than actual players. Because I don’t believe college sports is sustainable in its present form.

At the bama MBB game at the Hump, I counted 22 managers, grad asst types, asst coaches, and players not dressed out behind the front row of active players and coaches. There were not even enough folding chairs for all of them to sit. Visibility is a real issue for those fans with lower row seating behind them as they often stand the majority of the game.

It is a joke! All but the grad assistants I am sure are pulling down very good salaries. Just more and more money that the universities and fans are having to dole out. Sooner or later this is going to bust and universities are going to wake up and say no mas!

They need to wake up but I'm sure anyone does until the entire system collapses and I ain't talking bout college sports - I'm talking the entire house of cards economy and bloating debts we continue to mount. It is all out of control.
I have many family inside school systems (multiple states) operations and we have across the board out of control spending and organizations. Sports drives it all, some borrow from academics to fund sports. We now treat high school programs like we used to college 15 years ago.
Got to be careful talking like this or attack the blue hairs comes out. Some of the young people better start listening to the blue hairs because the communist young everything is free crowd will take us down.

Much like politics today- there is just simply too much money to be made by the parties involved to do what needs to be done. If we went to an old school system as you mentioned- there would still be teams that would cheat to get an advantage- just like they did in the 30's, 40's, and 50's.

If we're smart we'll sign and place five raw offensive linemen at Co-Lin every year and then call up the ones that pan out. It would be great for the prospect that is 6'6" 350 from D'Lo Central that has played two years of football that might pan out and might not. That way those players can play, get in a weight room and develop some and then MSU gets them for 4....uh.....7 years after that.
