Pitiful. Pretty much undoes the good the TN road win did. Baseball can't get here soon enough.

You can’t go scoreless down the stretch. We played way too careless.

Lampley had the hot hand but they went away from her going down the stretch. Lampley's a big shot maker.
Also, if Miss. State wasn't knocking down 3 pointers like they were...this game had the makings of Missouri blowing them out...displayed very little ability to defend in this game. They continue to do the same type stuff similar to the Alabama loss, give up key 3 point baskets with the game on the line and going cold with the game on.the line. The SEC games that they've won they got out to fairly sizeable leads and held on. Lost all of the close competitive games coming down the stretch..and basically a no show for Oklahoma. They've show flashes but to me they need to go all out all the time defensively...aggreesive, stifling defensive. As much as I've taken.up for Coach Purcell and his staff...they won't make it far playing on their heels. His team doesn't appear to matchup well with most of the SEC teams executing while in passive defensive sets. Also, no rim.protector in the post. Need to take te fight to these teams defensively, not letting these teams get comfortable in offensive sets. Defend the inbounds play. everything.

I wouldn't rule out putting Madison Francis at the point and moving Trayanna Crisp over to the off guard (2 spot) coming down the stretch of the season.....and Mcpaul, Lampley, or Prater at the 3 spot.
See what happens

looked like they haven't practiced defense and the wild shot selection was not reflective of team ball at all. At times it was as ugly as a wnba game.

I didn't see what happened till now but I knew this would happen. Totally predictable. The MSU curse. We lay more eggs in easy moments.

After Coach Schaefer left Miss. State the incoming coaches went away from the style of ball that got Miss. State to where they were...top 2 in the SEC along with South Carolina. They haven't recovered since. Miss. State strongly emphasized dominant, post presence and post depth. power basketball, reboundiing, taking care of the basketball, 4 quarters relentless pressure defense, toughness, good 3 point shooting. dribble drive, ect. Now they play small ball Mike Neighbors type system and the Miss. State system is in Texas right now. Not saying Coach Purcell won't do well, and that he can't be successful with his own system but the system changes away from what got them to back to back national championship games that these new coaches brought have loomed huge. This Miss. State team doesn't have the ideal personel to run this hybrid Mike Neighbors small ball type system and win on consistent basis in the SEC. If you're hitting on all cylinders it's possible to sneak into the NCAA Tourney with it..and would need to continue on all cylinders to make a multi game run thereafter. When Coach Neeighbors was at his best at Arkansas he had the best group of shooters in the SEC, the nation including standout Chelsea Dungee. When he was at his best at Washington he had the #1 scoring guard in NCAA D1...future WNBA standout Kelsey Plum.
I can see where Coach Purcell is coming from in the way that he has set up this team but he doesn't appear to quite have all the pieces. Example...Mikayla Blakes type scorer on this team along with current players then your'e sitting near the top of the SEC right now (regardless bad defense) running Fred Castro offense.

we cant stop dribble penetrations. no help defense. Mcphail has gone to crap--what is her problem?

Missouri is a middle of the road SEC team similar to us, so the loss is not that horrible. Now, if we lose to Ark, aTm or UF that would be bad. It has put us in a position though where we have to beat UGA now along with those 3 to make the tournament.

Everyone wants to play NBA-style ball (which I quit watching 30 years ago).
