Tee Bartlett
Any updates on Tee Bartlett? Also, is he redshirting for this season?
Last I heard is that he arrived late and conditioning issues.
-
He is redshirting and needed to lose weight and get better conditioned, but I think the staff is high on him...lord knows we need help in the middle
-
He came in about 65 lbs overweight and completely out of shape. Our staff was extremely pissed at him. I imagine if he wasn't a highly rated kid we would've sent him packing.
He has worked his but off and is probably only 20-25 lbs overweight now. He's still not anywhere close to game shape.
-
I have been wondering about him as well because if I recall he was our highest rated high school recruit from this class. I had heard about the conditioning issues but 65 pounds overweight? That is pretty crazy that happened so quickly after being recruited.

I watch him in warmups occasionally. He?s progressed from walking in the layup line to something between a walk and a jog. Moves like he?s 70 years old.

He must have been in terrible shape if "he has worked his but off", and yet he is "still not anywhere close to game shape"

Anxiously awaiting for him to get in shape and enter the portal

Like others have said, he had to walk through warm ups early in the year and now he's kind of jogging. He was in terrible shape. Like I said, WAY overweight and couldn't make it down the court more than twice. Like it was BAD. This is why it was so detrimental that he was in LA all summer because of clearinghouse issues. He wasn't under our watch and he wasn't working out.

We don't need babysitting projects.

He's on the Renaldo Sydney diet *

Renardo Sidney arrived at Miss. State somewhere around 320 pounds (conservative weight). He sat out his freshman season at Miss. State similar to Bartlett but for a pending NCAA eligibility issue. Saw where he lost 25 pounds during the next off-season.though according to some reports he got down as low as 270 at one point. Other reports had him playing in games at Miss. State at around 300 pounds and not near the best of conditioing.. Whereas Mario Austin played at around 260 and was in good physical condition for that weight.

The best shape Renardo was ever in was the offseason between his sophomore and Junior year to about December of his Junior Year. He was all the way down to 265-270, was moving around great, and was a great option for us. We had a game against Baylor that year, I think it was the last or second to last game before SEC play, and we lost by 2. He was never the same after that game. His weight ballooned, his conditioning was shot, and the Renardo issues we had to deal with the previous two years started to surface.

I remember him talking about scoring from the post more, and something to the effect of "no one in the world can handle me in the paint". Then we played Bama and he got absolutely dog-walked by their big man (JaMichael Green?), lol.

It was Levi Randolph. We had beaten Bama in Starkville and we had to go to Bama after playing that emotional game against Kentucky....Bama dog walked us by, I believe, 20. Randolph just killed us. Of course we didn't have Hood. The season had already started to unravel at that point.

I don't understand this situation as he was in the Renaldo Sydney strength and conditioning program while enrolled in high school in California.***

Ever since the Gordon/Rhodes/Varnado team, our basketball program has been a lot more drama and no success outside of the Q Weatherspoon team and even that team lost in the 1st round to Liberty
