Disagree. Its professional sports now. This is how its done in the NBA.

Yeah, the issue is becoming more and more complex. You saw it early on with NIL. Promise of money not delivered and they sit out. Our new back up QB went through that. NOW, we are seeing players who get paid slack and then transfer for a bigger payday.
And Coach Cal fully nailed it when he was asked about Baylor bringing in a pro player. It's not a sustainable future. The ones hurt the most are HS players because of the lack of rules. He said he hated what's happening, but coaches are on the hot seat because of NIL. So it's hard to blame them for it. Either play the game, or be fired.

We talk so nicely about our coaches and players. We say oh a coach had winning seasons and BARELY made the tournament then went one and done. Then we praise players because either they actually came to MSU or stuck around for more than one year. Yet this coach is getting boat loads of money to put a team on the court that does not get repeatedly and just get completely embarrassed on their home court. We have players getting paid lots of money to be at the very least competitive.
Oh but we can’t do this and we can’t do that. These coaches don’t own our university nor do the players. We the fans/alumni own our university. We can and should demand at least a competitive team. With the amount of money flowing to coaches and players imo the firing of coaches should be on a much shorter fuse.
Don’t give me the crap excuse if we fire a coach after 3 straight tourney appearances with not one win in the tourney that no coach will want to come here. That is just being scared to at least try to get someone to coach that doesn’t get blow out on home court.

Yeah firing Jans at this point would be idiotic! Now, we do need to completely revamp our portal scouting department...like tomorrow!

It's an awful season. We should all be pissed, but we should also realize Jans has done a great job as our HC. He deserves a shot to fix it. If we look like this next season, sure, fire his ass

Great job? Eh, he's never had a winning record in the SEC, and is 26-35 in conference which is a .426 clip. Howland had two winning SEC years and a.500 and had a .459 clip in the SEC for his years here. Did we think Howland was great? Jans isn't and never was great. He is adequate and is pretty highly paid to be so. He needs to get this shite fixed.

I would say he has done a pretty good job. He has made the tourney 3 straight years which is commendable but he has yet to win a game in the NCAA tournament and has yet to reach .500 in the SEC in any of his seasons as our HC. Now I know the SEC has been tough but to go from being just competitive in the SEC (8 wins max in an 18 game schedule) to the mess we have this year is highly concerning. I have no problem with him getting another year to fix it but until he can have a winning record in the SEC, I don't see how we can call it a great year.

I lived through the Rick Ray era, so Jans has a lot of credibility with me. That said, Im sure it happened, but a 30 point loss at home? That is no good;

Nothing like hoping Craig Sword could somehow get us to 75 points so I could score some free Abner?s

better get used to it in this age of the SEC with 16 teams

Jan is not going to get it fixed this season. On to 2027. Got to do a better job of building a roster for next year

Feels like a complete re-build. We can't keep Josh. Sure he is fun some nights, but it is just time to move on.

Used to not having a great year in pretty much any sport in the SEC? Oh yeah, Im so used to that Im losing interest. Amazes me that folks are upset about our funding of baseball when that's really the only sport we have any hope left in at this point. We suck at pretty much everything else.

Better get used to State finishing 14-16 in this 16 team league in everything but Baseball, Women?s Golf, Softball, Men?s Tennis and Javelin Chunking.

We are middle of the pack NIL in basketball so we should be middle of pack at the end of the season. Jan and staff just did a poor job of putting this team together. If we keep Hubbard? Our other Guard needs to be 6’3 or so. We can’t have two midgets at Guards next year.
